How do we accurately assess whether we accurately understand the Word of God and what God is saying to us?
Like Christmas, Palm Sunday and the of Easter are well recorded in the Word of God. Many people, whether or not they profess to believe or even be religious, remember snippets of those events. But the Scriptures would also remind us that it is not only what we remember but do we remember accurately and are we implementing what we remember in ways that allow the Word of God to change our hearts and lives. A variation in this would be the elementary truths that we might fail to understand and live, make it difficult if not impossible for us to understand and apply secondary truths.

At the heart of this recounting of Jesus’ post resurrection intimate time with the two on the Road to Emmaus is Christ’s underscoring that the most important reality in the world is the Word of God/the Scriptures/God’s truth.

Two disciples on the road to Emmaus -
That very day - kai idou - and behold - KJV, NASB - 26 times in Luke and 8 times in Acts - used by Luke to introduce something new and unexpected.
Two of them - disciples - integral part of a core group of disciples that we wrongly assume was limited to the 12 and a small group of woman who were often close by -
Later report to the 12 and those who were gathered with them - Luke 24:33-36
Mark also referred to the encounter referred to by Luke
Mark 16:12 ESV
After these things he appeared in another form to two of them, as they were walking into the country.
Emmaus - nothing known for sure - only referred to here in the Scriptures - tradition connects it with Kubeibeh, seven miles
