Paul called on the believers to follow his example of following Christ. His focus was on growing in his walk with the Lord day by day.
The idea is to mimic. Like children do their parents.
The example of his faith.
and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith— that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death,

Our citizenship is not on earth. I love and appreciate the United States of America. I am grateful for the blessings I have, and sacrifices others have made to secure and preserve my liberty, the heritage that I have received. But as much as I love this land, I am looking forward to something even better!
Why I am looking forward to heaven:

My inheritance is preserved there.
My reward awaits me there. These are just the small reasons.

We eagerly await the return of our Savior.
He will transform our lowly body to be conformed to His glorious body.
He will serve him as He reigns supremely over all things.
We are to stand fast in our expectation in Christ!
