Experience of a Lifetime

Exodus 3:1-12

God had been just a good and pleasant idea to Moses.  The idea of God is a distant and nebulous concept; the average person tries to deal with it on the basis of intellect.  As an orthodox Hebrew, Moses’ idea of receiving God has been only in the intellectual sense.

Now he finds himself in the very presence of the living God.  The fire in the bush was God welling within the fire and shining out though the fire.  Now he experiences God personally.  A. W. Tozer, Men Who Met God

Today, we are here to discuss the fact that you to can experience God personally.  This concept is foreign to some, because they have been taught that God is distant.  You may be saying, “I know God.”  Therefore you might say this doesn’t apply to me.  But, I am asking you, “How have you experienced God?” in salvation?  What about life.

You cannot experience God outside of doing His will.  HENRY & TOM BLACKABY, THE MAN GOD USES p. 83

Let’s talk about experiencing God in life, an experience like Moses.

First you will see:

I.                    God’s Preparation (1-4)

A.                Wandering in the Wilderness

B.                 Appearance of God

C.                 The Calling

The key is not what a person can do, but what God will do through a person’s life.  Henry Blackaby, Lessons from the life of Samuel

Second experience is:

II.                 God’s Presence (5-9)

A.                Standard of Drawing Near

B.                 Reward of Drawing Near

Finally you will notice:

III.               God’s Path (10-12)

A.                God Protects (as you go back into the world)

B.                 His Promise (Be with you in the midst of everything)

God never made a promise that was too good to be true.  D.L. Moody

God will either give you what you ask, or something far better. Robert M. McCheyne
