• What was the physical cause of the flood?

o Genesis 7:11-12—“the deep was broken up”

o Genesis 8:2-3—the earth convulsed for 150 days

• How big was the ark?

o “Ark”—Hebrew word for “chest” ( we might say “barge”)—a floating rectangular box

o Genesis 6:15

o About 430 feet long, 73 feet wide, 44 feet high

o Genesis 6:16—three decks

• Why did he make the ark that big?

o Genesis 6:17, 19-21; 7:2-4, 8, 14-16; 8:1, 17-19.

• What was the magnitude of the flood?

o 2 Peter 3:3-4, 5-10

o Two arguments against the return of Christ:

 Can’t explain time lapse between the promise to return and the fact he hasn’t returned (answer: vv. 8-10)

 Cannot account for undisturbed nature (answer: vv. 5-7)
