Live like someone who has been saved

Notes

INTRODUCTION
Forgetfulness can be a real problem! Don’t believe me - just ask the husband who forgot about his wedding anniversary!
Forget about a doctor’s appointment and you will probably be charged a fee for not showing up.
Forget about the speed limit and how fast your driving and you’ll probably get a ticket.
In spite of the glorious act of redemption through the shed blood of the Son of God on your behalf, as believers, we can slip into a pattern of living our lives as we once did, before God saved our soul.
In days gone by, when there was something important that needed to be remembered, people would tie a string around their finger to serve as a reminder. Today, we often times set alarms and notifications on our cell phones that help us remember important appointments, etc.
Believers also can tend to forget that they are not their own, but have been purchased through the shed blood of Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 6:
1 Corinthians 6:19–20 NASB95
Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body.
SERMON TITLE
Saved? Then Live That Way! is the message from . I invite you to join me there.
Titus 3:1–8 NASB95
Remind them to be subject to rulers, to authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good deed, to malign no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing every consideration for all men. For we also once were foolish ourselves, disobedient, deceived, enslaved to various lusts and pleasures, spending our life in malice and envy, hateful, hating one another. But when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared, He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by His grace we would be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. This is a trustworthy statement; and concerning these things I want you to speak confidently, so that those who have believed God will be careful to engage in good deeds. These things are good and profitable for men.

Titus 3:

Paul never forgot the sinful condition from which he and his converts had been salvaged (cf. 1 Cor. 6:9–11; Eph. 4:17–24; Col. 3:6–7), and he reminded them of it once more.

Instead of the gracious, Christlike people he was encouraging them to be, they once were just the opposite:
Being foolish inste
ad of sensible
Being disobedient instead of submissive
Being deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures instead of self-disciplined and ready for every good work
Far from being peaceable, considerate and humble, they were characterized by malice and envy. being hated and hating one another.

Remember God’s Grace To You

Titus 3:4–7 NASB95
But when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared, He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by His grace we would be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

We await the receipt of an inheritance promised to us
We Have The Hope Of Eternal Life
While we have it already, we await it’s fullness to be realized

Remember To Engage In Good Deeds

Titus 3:8 NASB95
This is a trustworthy statement; and concerning these things I want you to speak confidently, so that those who have believed God will be careful to engage in good deeds. These things are good and profitable for men.
Earlier in this passage, Paul pointed out that we are not saved/redeemed by works. Paul concludes his thoughts by reminding us that while we are not saved by our works, good works must be an outgrowth of the salvation we have in Christ.
CONCLUSION
Let this text be a reminder to you, like a string tied to one of your fingers, are you saved?! Then, Live That Way.
