Creation Displays God’s Majesty

Verse 1 - Lord, OUR Lord - opens up with recognizing whom God is - not just Lord, but OUR Lord! Humbles ourselves, magnifies Him!

“How magnificent is your name throughout the earth” - God’s glory is visible throughout all of creation. Look around - walk in a part, visit a national forrest, get outside of the city and you will SEE the Lord!

Who like to gaze at the stars? - Light Pollution of the city hides the stars! (story of being in the middle of nowhere and seeing the sky like never before)

“You have covered the heavens with your majesty”

God’s Power is Displayed in Our Weakness

Verse 2 - The power of God is displayed in human weakness! Strength out of babies mouths! Just think about that for a moment: who is more helpless than a baby? And yet God uses that image - a nursing baby - to reveal His power, His glory! That He can establish a stronghold out of man’s weakest moments!

Brothers and Sisters I think of Gideon! If you have not read that story, please do, Gideon self described as the lowest of all the tribes, and the lowest in his own family! You will read on that Gideon was the king of cowards! And yet through Gideon, through the coward, God would run the enemies of His chosen people from the land!

Brothers and Sisters I think of Jesus! Fully God, Fully MAN - born a BABY! And through that Baby, a stronghold! One that can never be overpowered!

You will notice that in this Psalm there is

Our Dignity is Defined by God

Read Verses 3-8

I want you to think back to Creation. When God created the heavens and the earth there was no opposition - God spoke and it happened. Until MAN - God FORMED man with His own hands - and BREATHED life into man! Precious! Made in the image and likeness of God!

In Creation, there was no opposition. Sin did not exist!

“What is man that you remember him?” - Why would God cared about us? Why would HE redeem us? - It seems like a logical question! We sin, we fall short, we fail, we mess up, we do not deserve salvation! Our own RIGHTEOUSNESS is like filthy rags!

“What is man that you remember him?”! - We are God’s SPECIAL creation! Made to be LOVED BY GOD, and to LOVE GOD!

God’s GLORY, HIS POWER, is on display! In CONQUERING the opposition, the powers of evil, God displays a glory more remarkable than creation! Not only can He create - HE CAN RESTORE!

Not because WE deserve it, but because HE DESIRES it!

Dignity is defined as: the state or quality of being worthy of honor or respect

When we become God’s children, we are crowned with glory and honor!

God made that decision. Listen up = if you feel less - unloved - unworthy - not worth it - listen = God defines you! YOU are WORTHY - YOU are LOVED! God loves you so much that he crowned you with glory - HE has made you RULER of the works of HIS hands! Verse 6!

Always remember: It’s all about the LORD!

The Psalm opens and closes with the same words. Why?

Because it is ALL ABOUT THE LORD!

What does that mean?

He is WORTHY of HONOR, Praise, and Glory! - we need to recognize that!

Creation - spending time in His creation, and seeking to see Him in it, will bring you closer to God!

God defines who you are! You do not define!
