Intro:

We’ve been talking about a lot of stuff through this series.
We’ve talked about who God is
He’s omniscient
He loves us
He created us perfectly
We’ve talked about our false identities
Our PAWS
We’ve talked about how to put on our true identities
And now we’re going to see where our true identity leads us…to our purpose.
Do you ever feel lost? like you don’t know how you ended up here
There are days i feel like that sometimes. How did I get to this terrible situation?
Illustration of having to talk to dorm supervisor for letting squirrel get loose in girls room
God never has that thought!

Your eyes saw my unformed substance;

in your book were written, every one of them,

the days that were formed for me,

when as yet there was none of them.

17  How precious to me are your thoughts, O God!

How vast is the sum of them!

18  If I would count them, they are more than the sand.

I awake, and I am still with you.

19  Oh that you would slay the wicked, O God!

O men of blood, depart from me!

20  They speak against you with malicious intent;

your enemies take your name in vain.

21  Do I not hate those who hate you, O LORD?

And do I not loathe those who rise up against you?

22  I hate them with complete hatred;

I count them my enemies.

23  Search me, O God, and know my heart!

Try me and know my thoughts!

24  And see if there be any grievous way in me,

and lead me in the way everlasting!

God Created us for a Purpose

It is a good purpose (v.17)

How precious are your thoughts
God didn’t create you to be wasting your time, talents, or temperment
God created you to something amazing and something you love
10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
We are God’s masterpiece He has created us anew in Christ, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
God has good things planned for us and something planned for us we will love!
We know we will lvoe it because He created us to love it!

It is a right purpose (v.17)

IF God has a good purpose for us, it must also be the right purpose…or it wouldn’t be good for us!
God knew an eternity ago I was going to be born april 29, 1994
God knew he had a right purpose for me
Sometimes, i thought i wanted something else, but i knew i could never be happier than what I’m doing right now!

It is a comforting purpose (v.18)

Do you ever feel like God is ever away from you?
Do you ever feel hopeless?
Do you ever feel like God is hiding from you or hiding his will from you?
Read vs. 17 and 18 again

How precious to me are your thoughts, O God!

How vast is the sum of them!

18  If I would count them, they are more than the sand.

I awake, and I am still with you.

These verses are SOOO comforting
Even when we think we’re away from God He is still with us
God cares about you!
There will be some days you wonder if you made the right choice.
This is a lie from satan
You can take comfort in the fact GOD LOVES YOU
God created you
God sustains you
God cares for you
and God will help you
It is so freeing when we realize God created us for a purpose and we don’t have to create the purpose for ourselves.

God protects me for my purpose (19-24)

19  Oh that you would slay the wicked, O God!

O men of blood, depart from me!

20  They speak against you with malicious intent;

your enemies take your name in vain.

21  Do I not hate those who hate you, O LORD?

And do I not loathe those who rise up against you?

22  I hate them with complete hatred;

I count them my enemies.

23  Search me, O God, and know my heart!

Try me and know my thoughts!

24  And see if there be any grievous way in me,

and lead me in the way everlasting!

We spend so much time fearing what people will think, buts

God protects me....

From the world

We spend so much time trying to look and be like the world, but we don’t realize the world hates us
yet we forget these people hate God
We spend so much time fearing what people will think, but that’s not the important thing
What’s more important is, what is our identity in Christ?

From myself

Allowing God to search our hearts and know our thoughts protects us from ourselves
It’s not a very happy or fun thing, though.
But it leads us to the way everlasting
