3. What do you think was the immediate design of the Lord’s miracles?

a. Divine Miracles were incontestable proofs to all his followers of a divine supernatural agency and of His Divine Mercy and Loving-Kindness. Thus, they produced a double effect on His disciples: (1) convincing their understandings and (2) operating on their wills by making them sensible of His Divine tenderness and compassion towards the children of God.

b. Not intended to make converts to his doctrine, since there is every reason to believe that no one can be converted to the Truth by any miraculous testimony. “for those who wish to believe, no proof is necessary. While those who do not wish to believe, no proof is enough”.

c. We ought to consider that Jesus Christ, in his adorable mercy, is ever disposed to work all his Miracles in my own mind and life. This can only be done, as far as I co-operate freely with HIM in the working of such miracles.

Prayer before Bible Study of The Miracles of Jesus
Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and fire them with the fire of your love. Send forth your spirit and they shall be created, And you shall renew the face of the earth.
God, You teach your faithful by the light of the Holy Spirit, through this same spirit, grant that we pay due attention to the meaning and importance of every Divine Miracle, and to take heed of our own conduct and conversation, that we may always be in a fit state to be a subject of Your Miraculous Operation and therefore co-operate with You in the removal of all our natural infirmities, ignorance’s, and disorders, until we are finally restored, through Your Divine Grace, to the full and complete order of that heavenly life.
We ask this in Christ’s name. Amen.
