20 So where does this leave the philosophers, the scholars, and the world’s brilliant debaters? God has made the wisdom of this world look foolish. 21 Since God in his wisdom saw to it that the world would never know him through human wisdom, he has used our foolish preaching to save those who believe. 22 It is foolish to the Jews, who ask for signs from heaven. And it is foolish to the Greeks, who seek human wisdom. 23 So when we preach that Christ was crucified, the Jews are offended and the Gentiles say it’s all nonsense.

Application

Still looking outside the church for how to live. Self helpexplanations of psychological/emotional problems of how to be better without Jesusgross indulgence of entertainmentSelf medication - can’t drink enough to get away from the aches in your heart. God wants you to build on a solid foundation. Paul’s question in relevant to us today. Were we baptized in luthers name? in Wesly’s. such as the Methodists, and the WesleyansJohn Calvin as the reformed Church of americaall of these build a foundation for spiritual maturity to come.
1 Corinthians 3:9–15 The Message

Conclusion

Just like the Corinthean believers had trouble growing spiritually, all believers struggle with similar things. As followers of Christ we need to stop resting on our stiving for perfection and accept the forgiveness of our sin, and find focus on Christ, his power and what we can do in our lives when we let him.
