A. Hallowed be Your Name
- Significance of God's name (Psa 5:11; Pro 18:10; Psa 9:10; Psa 96:8)
- Primacy of the prayer (Jn 12:27-28; 1 Cor 10:31)
B. Your Kingdom Come
Matt 6:33
What is the Kingdom of God and how does it look like?
- Generally, universal rule and absolute dominion over all things (1 Chr 29:11)
- Specifically, sphere where God's rule is acknowledged by believers (Mt 13:11; Mk 4:11)
- Definitively, spiritual realm entered by regeneration (Jn 3:5)
- Significantly, the everlasting Kingdom (2 Pet 1:11; Rev 11:15)
Westminster Shorter Catechism
We pray, that Satan’s kingdom may be destroyed;
and that the Kingdom of grace may be advanced,
ourselves and others brought into it,
and kept in it;
and that the Kingdom of glory may be hastened.
C. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven
i. Request for A Spirit of Obedience
- Earnestly ask God for wisdom to learn His will (Ps 119:27, 33)
- Diligently seek for spiritual inclination to God's will (Ps 119: 32, 36)
- Desperately invoke God's strength to do His bidding (Ps 119:25, 28)
ii. Statement of Obedience
Rev 7:15
- Sweetens our submission to God's will
- Shows reasonableness of obedience to God (Ps 103:20)
- States norm for life (Col 1:9-10; 4:12)
- Teaches what and how to do it
