Greetings…

3 Blessed are they who observe justice, who do righteousness at all times!
God’s Justice
God’s Justice
What is justice?
What is justice?
Justice in this verses is dealing with the idea of authoritative rule.
We see this in others verses where this Hebrew word is found.
1 “Now these are the rules that you shall set before them.
13 With my lips I declare all the rules of your mouth.
120 My flesh trembles for fear of you, and I am afraid of your judgments.
Therefore, justice is dealing with the idea of authoritative rule.
This means…
God’s justice is His Law.
God’s justice is His Law.
God’s just, impartial, and fairness i.e. justice is based on Him being the creator of the law & us.
In other words He knows the law better than anyone and he knows how well we follow the law better than anyone which is why Jeremiah declared “the justice of God” the “way of the LORD.”
4 Then I said, “These are only the poor; they have no sense; for they do not know the way of the Lord, the justice of their God. 5 I will go to the great and will speak to them, for they know the way of the Lord, the justice of their God.” But they all alike had broken the yoke; they had burst the bonds.
Summary
Summary
Therefore, “blessed are those who observe justice i.e. God’s law.”
Everyone who reads or even has a cursory understanding of the Bible recognizes God’s expectation to follow His Word or law but how often is the issue most struggle with.
So, how often are we to “observe God’s justice?”
Observe Justice
Observe Justice
What does observe mean?
What does observe mean?
Observe, in this verse, means to “observe with the intent of conforming to the observation.”
We again see this word defined in other passages more clearly.
9 And God said to Abraham, “As for you, you shall keep my covenant, you and your offspring after you throughout their generations.
17 And you shall observe the Feast of Unleavened Bread, for on this very day I brought your hosts out of the land of Egypt. Therefore you shall observe this day, throughout your generations, as a statute forever.
11 “Observe what I command you this day. Behold, I will drive out before you the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites.
12 “ ‘Observe the Sabbath day, to keep it holy, as the Lord your God commanded you.
Thus, the word “observe” here in our text means to “observe with the intent to conform.”
Our text clearly indicates…
We must observe justice.
We must observe justice.
God expects those created in His image to observe justice as God has always expected people to obey His law.
Adam & Eve were expected to obey God.
2 And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden, 3 but God said, ‘You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.’ ”
Cain & Abel were expected to obey God.
4 By faith Abel offered to God a more acceptable sacrifice than Cain, through which he was commended as righteous, God commending him by accepting his gifts. And through his faith, though he died, he still speaks.
Nadab & Abihu were expected to obey God ().
Peter, Paul and all the rest of the apostles was expected to obey God.
6 I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel— 7 not that there is another one, but there are some who trouble you and want to distort the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed.
8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed. 9 As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed.
Even Jesus, when He became flesh, was expected to obey God’s law here on earth.
31 but I do as the Father has commanded me, so that the world may know that I love the Father. Rise, let us go from here.
8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.
That really isn’t the question though, as most people understand God wants them to obey Him.
Most people understand this so why are so many of God’s children not feeling blessed or happy?
Most people understand this so why are so many of God’s children not feeling blessed or happy?
Because they are not striving to fulfill what is means to truly “observe justice.”
The blessings or happiness that comes from observing justice only happens when we are striving for righteousness “at all times.”
3 Blessed are they who observe justice, who do righteousness at all times!
2 He who walks blamelessly and does what is right and speaks truth in his heart; 3 who does not slander with his tongue and does no evil to his neighbor, nor takes up a reproach against his friend; 4 in whose eyes a vile person is despised, but who honors those who fear the Lord; who swears to his own hurt and does not change; 5 who does not put out his money at interest and does not take a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things shall never be moved.
48 You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
9 And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.
Summary
Summary
As God’s children, justified by the blood of the only begotten Son, we see here that the joy of being in God’s love is found through observing God’s justice at all times.
Conclusion
Conclusion
The psalmist in could not contain his blessing or happiness as he strove for perfection in God’s Word.
1 Praise the Lord! Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever! 2 Who can utter the mighty deeds of the Lord, or declare all his praise? 3 Blessed are they who observe justice, who do righteousness at all times!
Invitation
1 Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save, or his ear dull, that it cannot hear; 2 but your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you so that he does not hear.
6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.
17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.
6 And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.
30 The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent,
32 “Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven.
8 in flaming fire, inflicting vengeance on those who do not know God and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.
1 Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, 2 and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. 3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures,
3 Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his.
7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.
