The word “marks” means several things:
1.And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.
SLIDE # 6
INTRODUCTION:
In the previous message on the natural man, we looked at the characteristics of the natural man. Now we will look at the spiritual man. [S-7] What are the marks of the spiritual man? To help us understand the word “marks,” I will give a descriptive to a word which is looming in our introduction.
SLIDE # 8
The word “marks” means several things:
Noun form:
· a punctuation mark: symbol, sign, character; diacritic;
· a mark of respect: sign, token, symbol, indication, badge, emblem; symptom, evidence, proof.
· characteristic, feature, trait, attribute, quality

Pastoral Theology: What is Pastoral Theology? Answer: Breaking down Scripture through the eyes of Pastor Smith.
[S-13- b] Now (action, already, recognition)
[S-13-c] we (spiritual man)
[S-13-d] have received, (in possession of)
SLIDE # 14 Frame
[S-14-a] not the spirit of the world, (the natural man,
principalities, darkness, working against)
[S-14-b] but (introducing, identifying)
SLIDE #15 - FRAME
[S-15-a] the spirit which is of God; (unmistakably, persona,
embodiment)
[ S-15-b] that (reason)
t nice characters. The question is, “what are they?”
[S-16 a ] we (spiritual man)
[S-16-b] might know the things (the hidden is revealed, unseen now seen)
SLIDE # 17 FRAME
[S-17 a] that (new information)
[S-17- b] are freely given (unable to buy, He gave)
[S-17-c] to us (the spiritual man)
[S-17- d] of God. (the Throne, all Power)
1. The Spiritual Man lives by the Spirit!
2. This verse indicates to us that we have been born from above.
3. The world didn’t give it to me and the world can’t take it away!
If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
SLIDE # 18
4. Know this for sure!! [S-18-a] The spiritual man is not merely a natural man that has been improved.
** He is not like a tadpole that has finally turned into a frog, he is more like a frog that has been transformed into a prince, by the kiss of God’s grace.** SLIDE 18 b I will read for a second time
5. Christians are not just nice characters. The question is, “what are they?”
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
6. We must remember always without fail, what salvation is. It is a matter of receiving Christ through His Spirit into our hearts.
ø Salvation is not merely getting our sins forgiven. Yes, forgiveness is necessary, but it just sets the stage for salvation.
ø Nor is salvation merely just going to heaven when you die. That’s great, but it is merely a product of salvation.
Heaven came down and glory filled my soul When at the cross my Savior made me whole My sins were washed away And my night was turned to day When heaven came down and glory filled my soul O, what a wonderful, wonderful day Day I will never forget When I was wandering in darkness away Jesus my Savior I met O, what a tender compassionate Friend He met the need of my heart Shadows dispelling with joy I am telling He made all the darkness depart

the Lord - [S-22-b] (Creator of heaven & earth)
build the house, - [S-22-c] (through confession, His Word)
they- [S-23-a] (natural man)
labour in vain that build it: - [S-23-b] (fruitless, cannot withstand, no foundation)

II. THE SPIRITUAL MAN LEARNS FROM THE SPIRIT
SLIDE # 20
12. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
13. Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
14. But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
Pastoral Theology:
12. Now[in possession] we[spiritual man] have received[sent, conferred] not the spirit of the world [Satanic, darkness] but the spirit [Holy Spirit, Spirit of Truth] which [identifying] is of God;
[one true God] that we [spiritual man] might know[insight] the things [heavenly, benefits] that [understood] are freely[cost, price, paid] given to us. [demo
