1. Today’s Bible Verse

Matt 6:
Matthew 6:30–33 NASB95
“But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little faith! “Do not worry then, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear for clothing?’ “For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

Name of Christ

Isaiah 55:4 NASB95
“Behold, I have made him a witness to the peoples, A leader and commander for the peoples.
God provides the needs of His children. If God provides for the animals how much more His children.
Matthew 6:25–34 NASB95
“For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? “Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they? “And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life? “And why are you worried about clothing? Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin, yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these. “So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
Jesus promises more than things like food and clothing.
Luke 12:22–32 NASB95
22 And He said to His disciples, “For this reason I say to you, do not worry about your life, as to what you will eat; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. 23 “For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing. 24 “Consider the ravens, for they neither sow nor reap; they have no storeroom nor barn, and yet God feeds them; how much more valuable you are than the birds! 25 “And which of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life’s span? 26 “If then you cannot do even a very little thing, why do you worry about other matters? 27 “Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; but I tell you, not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these. 28 “But if God so clothes the grass in the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, how much more will He clothe you? You men of little faith! 29 “And do not seek what you will eat and what you will drink, and do not keep worrying. 30 “For all these things the nations of the world eagerly seek; but your Father knows that you need these things. 31 “But seek His kingdom, and these things will be added to you. 32 “Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has chosen gladly to give you the kingdom.
Luke 12:22-32

2. Why should God’s children not worry about food, drink or clothing?

If God provides for those of lesser value compared to the value of His children whom Christ died for then He will definitely even provides for them.

3. What should you seek first, after which God will provide? See .

Prioritize God’s kingdom.
Prioritize God’s righteousness.

God’s provision for Jesus ministry

Through the ministry of some women followers, who “were contributing to their support out of their private means. See
Luke 8:3 NASB95
and Joanna the wife of Chuza, Herod’s steward, and Susanna, and many others who were contributing to their support out of their private means.
God did not require them (unlike in other cases) to give away their wealth as HE did in the case of the rich young ruler. Why? Through their stewardship it showed that their wealth was not their God.
Because of their provision God freed Jesus and His disciples to devote their entire time to ministry.
As the provision kept coming there was no reason for Jesus to worry about meeting His daily need. God provided it and He will do the same for us.

Learning to Trust

We need to live a life of faith.
Hebrews 11:6 NASB95
And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.
Let’s analyze the case on trusting God shared in page 161.
What was the need?
Did they do any soliciting to meet the need?
How was the $1000 need met?
Describe the $1000 that came from the business man, how did it come to his possession?
Did the business man know about the need?
How was the rest of the printing cost met?
Describe the comment of the giver of the $100 when he gave it to the ministry?
GOD SUPPLIES EXACTLY FROM THE SURPLUS OF SOME.

4. Can you remember a specific time when God provided for you in such a way that you knew it was God? If so, briefly described that time and prepare to share a summary with your group.

Don’t worry about things.

Worrying is pointless in view of God’s care and provision for His children.
What does God think about anxiety?
Matthew 6:25–32 NASB95
