Precious in the sight of the Lord
Is the death of His saints.
Viola May Mullins Scholl certainly was a saint. The wife of Marvin for over ____ years, mother to Donald, Raymond and Joan. Grandmother and great-grandmother to many, a faithful follower of Christ, a devoted member of this church even when she couldn’t attend, and a godly friend of everyone that is gathered here today. We are here today to celebrate her phenomenal life. We can certainly understand why the Psalmist proclaimed the death of this saint, precious. Ms. Viola was precious to those who knew her. She cared for those who came into her life. I would be so bold even that she prayed for each one of us here on a regular basis. My life is richer because she did. As we gather to celebrate this incredible lady, please join me as we pray.
Father,
As we gather just now in this place, we are grateful for Your Presence. Thank you for giving us the peace that passes all understanding. As we celebrate a life well lived, help us remember that You are the Author and Creator of all life and just as we have already ready and stated, this life was precious to You. May we celebrate Your goodness, Your grace, Your love and Your mercy as we celebrate the beautiful life of Ms. Viola. We thank you for the blessed assurance that Jesus was hers. May we bring You honor and glory in this service just now.
In the Beautiful Name of Jesus We Pray,
AMEN.
The Lord is righteous in all his ways
and loving toward all he has made.
The Lord is near to all who call on him,
to all who call on him in truth.
When I read these words, I am reminded that there are times that I feel the presence of the Lord near by and there are also times when I feel the presence of the Lord by being near by one of His saints. When I was in the presence of Ms. Viola, I felt the Lord’s presence. Even when she was in the hospital these last days and was sleeping, I felt the Lord’s presence close by. I believe that each one of us here have been closer to the Lord because of Ms. Viola. I have been fortunate to have been the pastor of the church now for over three years. Ms. Viola and Marvin have not been able to attend any services during that time, but they always assured me of their prayers for the church as well as for me. Recently I was able to visit with them in their home. She told me of her prayers for my family and for me. She knew that one of my daughters had been sick and asked me about her. She assured me of their prayers for my daughter. She drew me into the presence of the Lord.
She knew how to call on the Lord in truth. As both a teacher of God’s word and a student, when they could not come to church for Sunday School, they had Sunday School each week in their home. What a testimony for us all in calling on truth by searching the truth of God’s word.

Words of Comfort for the Family
Words of Comfort for the Family
Listen to these Words of Jesus:
John 14:1-1
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.”
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
2 Corinthians
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows.
