Introduction

Today I would like to you to join me on a journey. To a time when Christianity had just begun, the Gospel was being preached, but persecution was heavy. This was a time when almost all the disciples of Jesus had died of martyrdom except for one. John, he lives in an obscure location in Ephesus, teaching the up and coming disciples, new believers that had been evangelized and baptized, in the numerous house churches in the city. He was teaching them all he could about the Messiah, the son of God.

Scene 1 - 9:1-12

(And then what happened John?)
Well, Jesus left the temple unscathed, away from the crowd that tried to stone him. But along the way, we spotted that blind beggar again. I don’t remember how long he has been begging near the gate of the temple but it must’ve been quite a number of years. His neighbors tell us he has been blind since birth. Let me tell ya, we had ourselves quite a theological challenge on our hands. Peter was saying this must’ve been because he is a sinner, this is how God judges those who sin, I don’t know what he’s done but I’d put my money on idol worship. I was like no no no, how can that be? He has been blind from birth, is anyone capable of committing sins in their mother’s womb. Obviously, the only logical explanation is that he was cursed from birth, it had to have been his parents
