This black man was assaulted (Kicked in the face) by a group of angry white men on his way to the voting booth in the 1960s. -This is why you should vote.
Even if you don't like the candidates, think about the sacrifices our ancestors made to give you the right to vote and the intimidation and fraud they endured . - This is why you NEED TO VOTE.
When someone tells you your vote doesn’t matter- Think about how many people of color were hurt or killed just for trying to vote, those who were charged poll taxes, given literacy test, and all the ridiculous tactics that were used to KEEP African Americans from the Voting Booth. - THIS IS WHY YOU NEED TO VOTE.
They're are several amendments that we need to be aware of...
The 13th Amendment - Abolished Slavery
The 14th Amendment - Gave African Americans Citizenship
The 15th Amendment- Outlawed discrimination when it came to voting .. weather it was sex.. color..but it did not give you the right to vote.. just said you could not discrminate against someone voting..
it wasnt until .. march 19th 1965 and that famous walk across the … Edmund Pettus Bridge… and what we call social media.. or going live .. the fact that the entire nation was watching … the brutality that took place … on peaceful nonviolent people.. both Black and white.. that 5 months later.. on August 6, 1965.. that Congress passed the right to vote act of 1965..
it was 95yrs from the time the 15th amendment was signed until the voting act was signed… so for another 95yrs.. african americans were citizens but still not treated as equals...
heres another fun fact… our great state of tn .. the volunteer state… was the very last state to ratify.. amend… modify.. the 15th Amendment… in 1997…
On October 23,2019.. the house of representatives.. passed the VOTING RIGHT ADVANCEMENT ACT OF 2019. … Which stemmed from the seprem court stricking down a key voting rights act provision.. in the shelby vs Holder case…in 2013..
allowing and opening the door for each jurisdiction to change their voting systems....and allowing new restrictions.. .. There are many that believe this are results from the fact that in 2012 more African Americans voted than ever before.. 66% of registered African American voters ..
Around the country, state legislatures are attempting to put fresh roadblocks in the WAY OF OUR BASIC RIGHT TO VOTE...
I know we love to PRAY, and we TRUST GOD with EVERYTHING in us.. But we also have a RESPONSIBILITY to protect our rights here on EARTH… we have a RESPONSIBILITY TO BE THE CHANGE.
While we’re dancing- people are hungry and homeless.
While we’re having church- lawmakers are making laws related to voting that disproportionately impact black and brown people.
Tell somebody we have a RESPONSIBILITY!
Be the CHANGE.Be the CHURCH.
We may NOT run for office, volunteer, or DONATE.
But we can fulfill our right and DUTY! That’s to vote.
-When you don’t vote - you make their work, blood, sweat, and their pain in vain.
Dr. King demanded that Americans be given the ballot. We must demand.. today that we KEEP IT.
In the Give… in the gift.... is the BALLOT.
Dr. King King listed some of the changes that would result by African Americans regaining voting rights:
-"Give us the ballot and we will no longer have to worry the federal government about our basic rights -"Give us the ballot and we will no longer plead to the federal government for passage of an anti-lynching law ...
-"Give us the ballot and we will fill our legislative halls with men of good will ...
-"Give us the ballot and we will place judges on the benches of the South who will do justly and love mercy ...
-"Give us the ballot and we will quietly and nonviolently, without bitterness, implement the Supreme Courts decision of May 17, 1954.
13 “You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it salty again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless.
14 “You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden.
15 No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house.
16 In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.
Matthew 5:
- “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
The world NEEDS YOU! #ROCKTHEVOTE
1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.
hebrews 12:

look at the impact we have had on the sports industry..
music industry.... listen to the beats on the tv shows
the advertising industry… there is a commercial out now that uses a church song in the back ground...
in
our heritage … our talents are used in the majoirty of things we do… but there is still one area .. our success record is not so great… thats voting… and being an active part of our governing system..... we need more Lawyers and judges… mayors and governers.. representatives.. ..
