Central Idea: You were created for God’s purpose
It doesn’t matter how much we talk about the physical and spiritual need of the world if you don’t realize that you were created for God’s purpose

The Purpose of Creation

What was the purpose for God creating you?
Isaiah 43:6–7 ESV
6 I will say to the north, Give up, and to the south, Do not withhold; bring my sons from afar and my daughters from the end of the earth, 7 everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.”
1 Corinthians 10:31 ESV
31 So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
Isaiah 43:4
You were created to glorify God - plain and simple
What does it mean to glorify God?
Definition: “Glorifying” means feeling and thinking and acting in ways that reflect his greatness, that make much of God, that give evidence of the greatness of who he is.
Genesis 1:
Genesis 1:31 ESV
31 And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.
To glorify God means that when people look at you they see why God is good and desirable
Its like when I watch football and I see someone make an incredible throw and catch. I am impressed by the football players and it makes me want to go play football. Or like when I see a musician play an instrument well. I am impressed by the musician and I think highly of that musician and it makes me want to go play that instrument. When people look at us and the things we do, it should move them to be impressed by the goodness and incredibleness of God. And it should make them want and desire God. It should make them want the relationship with Him that we have.
No matter what you think about yourself, this is your purpose and God said that creating you was very good.
It doesn’t matter what boys, girls, society, or anything else in the world says about you when the God of the universe says that your creation is very good and your purpose is to glorify him.
Your purpose is not in what college you will go to.
Your purpose is not what you want to do after high school.
Your purpose is not in who you marry.
Your purpose is to glorify God
All of those things are simply the opportunities God gives us to glorify him.
But your purpose and identity is not in your school, your family, your job, or your relationships.
Your purpose and identity is in glorifying God.
Your journey of glorifying God started at your salvation

The Purpose of Salvation

What is the purpose of your salvation?
God saved you to set you on a course to continually glorify him.
Romans 6:6–8 ESV
6 We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin. 7 For one who has died has been set free from sin. 8 Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him.
Romans 6:6-
Romans 6:9–11 ESV
9 We know that Christ, being raised from the dead, will never die again; death no longer has dominion over him. 10 For the death he died he died to sin, once for all, but the life he lives he lives to God. 11 So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.
Romans 6:9-
Romans 6:12–14 ESV
12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, to make you obey its passions. 13 Do not present your members to sin as instruments for unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and your members to God as instruments for righteousness. 14 For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace.
Romans 6:12-
When Christ changes your life, and you pursue righteousness, people will notice and God will be glorified.
Dakota’s story of transformation
Sin does not contribute to your purpose
When you sin, it does nothing to glorify God.
When you have premarital sex, it does nothing to glorify God
When you use bad language, it does nothing to glorify God
When you lie and act selfish to get what you want, it does nothing to glorify God
Sin actually brings shame upon the name of God
You know that feeling you have when you do something wrong and your mom or dad or someone you highly respect looks at you ands says, “I am so disappointed in you. I raised you better than that.” We can make all the jokes we want, but if you really love and respect that person a lot, hearing them say they are disappointed in you is far worse than a whipping.
Do you realize that each and every sin you commit is an appointment at judgment day for God to look at you and say, “I am so very disappointed in you. I created you for so much more.”
And I think that the greater sin that we are committing is that we continue to sit in these chairs like frozen statues when God is calling us to move in his purpose

Move to Purpose

Do you realize that Jesus didn’t die a grueling and painful death simply so we could meet together once a week?
Who in the world would die for that?
But that is what we do.
Thank you God for saving me! - plop down into a chair
No! He has called us to move to action.
Christ died for us to enable us to do what He is calling us to do!
He died for you to change your heart so that you would see a dying world and seek to save it!
God has more planned for you than to just routinely come to church.
He does call us to come to Church, but that is so we can worship him and be equipped to take what we have learned to the world.
He has purposed you to make an impact in people’s lives
ephesians
Ephesians 2:10 ESV
10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
Before God even said “Let there be light” he designed things for you to do for him and people for you to impact.
You are not too young to make an impact in a person’s life
Jeremiah 1:6–7 ESV
6 Then I said, “Ah, Lord God! Behold, I do not know how to speak, for I am only a youth.” 7 But the Lord said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am only a youth’; for to all to whom I send you, you shall go, and whatever I command you, you shall speak.
Jeremiah 1:6-
God is calling you to start a Bible study during lunch
God is calling you to find friends and family to invest in and disciple
God is calling you to involve yourself in missions
God is calling you to make an impact on the physical need of the world
God is calling you to make an impact on the spiritual need of the world
God is calling you to move to purpose and glorify his name
Will you move to your purpose?
Will you get out of these seats and do what God has called you to do before the dirt we stand on was even created?
