Recap:
What is the Gospel
Preparation in sharing the Gospel
This week:
Matthew 28:19–20 ESV
19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
If the Gospel is the most important message, how am I suppose to share it?
The command is to make disciples
What is a disciple?
Is the charge to have all the answers? Is your charge to have the greatest arguments? Is your charge to have the most popular thought? Is your charge to convince others of Jesus?
This week:
How do I share the Gospel?

Why People Don’t Share the Gospel

What are some reasons that someone doesn’t share the Gospel?
Fear
Don’t know what to say or do
May not have an answer
I am too young
I am not good enough
Characters of the Bible with the same arguments
Moses:
Burning bush
God calls
Moses makes arguments “Who am I suppose to say sent me, Why would they listen to me?”
God Answers
God shows signs (Staff to snake, leprosy)
Moses’ final plea
Exodus 4:10–11 ESV
10 But Moses said to the Lord, “Oh, my Lord, I am not eloquent, either in the past or since you have spoken to your servant, but I am slow of speech and of tongue.” 11 Then the Lord said to him, “Who has made man’s mouth? Who makes him mute, or deaf, or seeing, or blind? Is it not I, the Lord?
Exodus 4:
Jeremiah:
Prophet called by God
Jeremiah 1:4–9 ESV
4 Now the word of the Lord came to me, saying, 5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.” 6 Then I said, “Ah, Lord God! Behold, I do not know how to speak, for I am only a youth.” 7 But the Lord said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am only a youth’; for to all to whom I send you, you shall go, and whatever I command you, you shall speak. 8 Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you to deliver you, declares the Lord.” 9 Then the Lord put out his hand and touched my mouth. And the Lord said to me, “Behold, I have put my words in your mouth.
How many of you have had a first time doing something you love?
How many of you have had a first time doing something you love?
Riding a bike
Fishing
Hunting
Playing an instrument or sports
My son wants to do everything I do - No excuses
Luke 18:17 ESV
17 Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.”
A childlike faith to trust God

The Example of Christ

Jesus and the Samaritan woman:
Jews and Samaritans didn’t get along
Man asking a woman
woman out at the well midday by herself
Jesus engages her
John 4:13–18 ESV
13 Jesus said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, 14 but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” 15 The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water, so that I will not be thirsty or have to come here to draw water.” 16 Jesus said to her, “Go, call your husband, and come here.” 17 The woman answered him, “I have no husband.” Jesus said to her, “You are right in saying, ‘I have no husband’; 18 for you have had five husbands, and the one you now have is not your husband. What you have said is true.”
Jesus spent time with her
spoke with her
got into her personal life
revealed Himself
shared the Gospel
Apostle Paul:
1 Corinthians 2:1 ESV
1 And I, when I came to you, brothers, did not come proclaiming to you the testimony of God with lofty speech or wisdom.
1 Corinthians 2:1-
1 Corinthians 2:1–5 ESV
1 And I, when I came to you, brothers, did not come proclaiming to you the testimony of God with lofty speech or wisdom. 2 For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. 3 And I was with you in weakness and in fear and much trembling, 4 and my speech and my message were not in plausible words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, 5 so that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.
Power of salvation is in Christ alone
Why is Moses’ argument flawed?
God created people He constructs how they function
Jeremiah’s argument?
God will teach him what to say and put His words in his mouth
The Great Commission
Matthew 28:20 ESV
20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
God is with you
Romans 8:31 ESV
31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
