In we have the account of our Lord being led into the wilderness to be tempted by Satan. Wilderness and desert in Scripture often symbolize testing and temptation, not only for Jesus but for Israel and even Abraham. While Abraham was travelling to the Negev through the land of the Canaanites that God told him his descendants would one day inherit, a famine comes upon the land.
