Pursue love, and desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy.
37 If anyone thinks he is a prophet or spiritual, let him recognize that the things which I write to you are the Lord’s commandment.
38 But if anyone does not recognize this, he is not recognized.
39 Therefore, my brethren, desire earnestly to prophesy, and do not forbid to speak in tongues.
40 But all things must be done properly and in an orderly manner.
1 cor 14:37-
Verse 37-40
Someone might say pastor derrick why are you still teaching on 1 Corinthians?
37If anyone thinks himself to be a prophet or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things which I write to you are the commandments of the Lord. 38But ◙ if anyone is ignorant, let him be ignorant.
39Therefore, brethren, desire earnestly to prophesy, and do not forbid to speak with tongues. 40Let all things be done decently and in order.
Someone might say pastor derrick why are you still teaching on 1 Corinthians?
I think that it is increasingly important because of the hour and time that we are in to understand to seek and to know God order.
That includes God order in our
Homes
Family
Lives
Finances
And churches
From the very beginning God has been a God of order.
Now God set forth an order in the garden, which Dr. Carroll Thompson refers to as the “Order of Righteousness” in his book “You Can be Righteous.” He Separate light from darkness, he separated the waters, he separated the day from the night and all the seasons and he separated life all in its order. Then he placed a tree in the mist of the Garden called “the tree of the knowledge of good and evil” and he separated man from it.
God begans to set things in order.
Then he forms man.
And the 1st thing he give him is a J O B
Than he forms the woman.
Not from his feet to be step of and lorded over by man
And not from his head to be controlled and to be manipulate by her.
But from his side so that come be partner that she could be his helpmate.
In this we see God order..
When man follows God thing are good.
When man follows woman things are Bad.
ORDER step it up man..
12 But I do not allow a woman to teach or exercise authority over a man, but to remain quiet.

I don’t believe that God is disqualifying woman but yet saying man I have establish an order the best order for you life.
For Adam was formed first, then Eve.

When it come to our lives God says I should have the 1st place I should be the most import thing to you.

Jealousy point to priority and God says I need to be in that first place and when I am not something is wrong.
I am not pleased.
Paul try to bring us to the understanding that he is 1st
17 He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.
18 He is also head of the body, the church; and He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that He Himself will come to have first place in everything.
When we have this revelation it changes how we spend our money.
And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

8 “Will a man rob God? Yet you are robbing Me! But you say, ‘How have we robbed You?’ In tithes and offerings.
9 “You are cursed with a curse, for you are robbing Me, the whole nation of you!
10 “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house, and test Me now in this,” says the Lord of hosts, “if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you a blessing until it overflows.
When you put him first he will bless you
“Will a man rob God?
Yet you have robbed Me!
But you say,
‘In what way have we robbed You?’
In tithes and offerings.
9 You are cursed with a curse,
38 “Give, and it will be given to you. They will pour into your lap a good measure—pressed down, shaken together, and running over. For by your standard of measure it will be measured to you in return.”
For you have robbed Me,
Even this whole nation.
10 Bring all the tithes into the storehouse,
That there may be food in My house,
And try Me now in this,”
Says the Lord of hosts,
C’mon you can out give a giver.
“If I will not open for you the windows of heaven
And pour out for you such blessing
That there will not be room enough to receive it.
When you put him first he will bless you
Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”
C’mon you can out give a giver.
And
33 “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
says it all
Seek ye 1st the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you.
What things?
All the thing you worry about.
Worry but things before God.
So we see in chapter 14 Paul places things in order.
Verse one
Pursue LOVE!!!! Back to that LOVE THANG.
37 And He said to him, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’

Once again its all about love.
And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ ◙

One again its all about love.
A church without love is not a church at all.
Love is not a passive we must pursue it.
Pursue and desire spiritual gifts.
Want them why? To released God’s Heart and his desires to the church.
Now verse 2- 25 deal with tongues verse prophesy.
we've talked about that but we can go into great detail if necessary.
I would like to say he not throwing away tongues because in verse 5 he says I want you all to speak in tongues but more to prophesy.
5 Now I wish that you all spoke in tongues, but even more that you would prophesy; and greater is one who prophesies than one who speaks in tongues, unless he interprets, so that the church may receive edifying.
Look at verse 26
This is what we want. What Paul wanted. What God wanted. What the church should look like.
26 What is the outcome then, brethren? When you assemble, each one has a psalm, has a teaching, has a revelation, has a tongue, has an interpretation. Let all things be done for edification.

Then Paul tells us how this works..
Look at verse 27
27 If anyone speaks in a tongue, it should be by two or at the most three, and each in turn, and one must interpret;
If anyone speaks in a tongue, let there be two or at the most three, each in turn, and let one interpret.
What is paul doing
Bringing order…
We not going to have tongues services where that all we do. Cut it off at 2 at the most 3.
Because the gifts should never be the show…
God should be.
Look at verse 28 about tongues..
28 but if there is no interpreter, he must keep silent in the church; and let him speak to himself and to God.
Not that he can’t speak in tongues but when he is in the church setting communicating to the people if there is not an interpreter he must keep silent in the church
if there is not interpretation let him keep silent WHERE in the church…
Not that he cant speak in tongues but when he is in the church setting communicating to the people if there is not interpter be quite and look
The question becomes, “how will we know if there is an interpreter there.”
We should know the gifts and the operators in our body.
Well, i have a tongue but there is no one there that has the gift of interpretation. i must be silent
Speak to himself and GOD.. (in tongues)
Didn’t say you could speak in tongues but it says to speak with yoself and God.
Verse 29 same thing about Prophecy
29 Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others pass judgment.
Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others judge.
We ought to weight prophetic word and see if they line up with scripture and are from the lord..
Just because they are from another country or they say they are prophet or they where right before does not give us the exuse not to judge their word HELLO…

30 But if a revelation is made to another who is seated, the first one must keep silent.
31 For you can all prophesy one by one, so that all may learn and all may be exhorted;
If you get something wait..
But if anything is revealed to another who sits by, let the first keep silent. 31For you can all prophesy one by one, that all may learn and all may be encouraged.
If you get something wait..
Take turn. This is not a contest. Learn and encourage.
For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints.
Look at this 34
34 The women are to keep silent in the churches; for they are not permitted to speak, but are to subject themselves, just as the Law also says.
35 If they desire to learn anything, let them ask their own husbands at home; for it is improper for a woman to speak in church.

Notice look at the context we are talking order.
Let ◙ your women keep silent in the churches, for they are not permitted to speak; but they are to be submissive, as the law also says. 35And if they want to learn something, let them ask their own husbands at home; for it is shameful for women to speak in church.

Now paul in chapter 11;5, 13 says woman can pray and prophecy. As long as they do not dishonor there husband.
What is the law the order woman submit to you husband is the order.
Joel promises us that in the last Days God will pour out his spirit on God’s sons and daughters
And in this pouring and releasing God will do it all in order.
We must all give something we must all flow together.
We must prefer one another.
