One of the things the good Lord has been showing me is to discover the hero or warrior in us. This is not just something that we long for or intend to be, but who we are - a warrior of Christ. Now being a warrior is not for the light hearted. We need to stand up in the heat of the battle and proclaim in the midst of the battle that the victory has already been won. We share in the Lord’s victory over the enemy and all his principalities and powers.
We still need to work things through with the Lord. Job contains one of the best illustrations of Satanic assault against the Christian. Now the enemy is the great accuser. He declared to God that if he made Job’s life miserable, that Job would give up on His God. However, the trials of Job proved otherwise and he ended up with over double what he started with. He lost property, animals, kids and health but because of his faith, God blessed him mightily. In all of that He stated that we need to accept both good and bad when we are in the Lord.
Now the enemy has never ceased to accuse the brethren. He is constantly on God’s case that we will renounce our faith when difficulties arise. Sometimes, we feel we are being tested like Job. But how genuine is our faith? How far will we go to demonstrate our love for the Lord in the moments of trial and tribulation in our lives. Will we blame God when times get tough? Or will we stand up like a warrior and fight?
God of course gives us so much more to chew on in the New Covenant. In fact, He stated to count it all joy when we enter into various trials. So when the enemy or man means evil for our lives, God is saying that we should rejoice to be worthy of being tested in the trial.
Why is that I wonder? Well the reason is that evil cannot stand such an approach. The devil’s plight is rendered useless when we count it all joy. In fact, it qualifies us to reign with Christ. How is this so? Well, if we have not gone through the trials we would not be worthy or qualified to reign. It is a bit like being setup to be a general manager without being brought up through the factory first. We would just fall on our face in humiliation, would we not? We need to be trained, we need to be prepared, we need to know how to handle every situation. Without knowledge, people perish.
In today’s society, we need to break intimidation as well. We know that we are not to fight in the flesh but against principalities and powers of darkness at work in the atmosphere and in men and women in our post modern society.
Postmodernism from the web is “a philosophy that says absolute truth does not exist. Supporters of postmodernism deny long-held beliefs and conventions and maintain that all viewpoints are equally valid.
In today's society, postmodernism has led to relativism, the idea that all truth is relative. That means what is right for one group of people is not necessarily right or true for another. The most obvious example is sexual immorality. Christianity teaches that sex outside of marriage is wrong. Postmodernism would claim that such a view might pertain to Christians but not to those who don't follow Jesus Christ; therefore, sexual immorality has become much more permissive in our society. Taken to extremes, postmodernism argues that what society says is illegal, such as drug use or stealing, is not necessarily wrong for the individual. Right!
Our reality may be different to another’s reality so who is right - actually there is not absolute truth according to these people. Because of our culture it is judgmental to decide that one person’s reality is wrong because their reality is a little different. How often do we see that?
Actually, post modernism rejects Biblical truth - that way, there are not absolutes outlined from the Bible. Jesus claimed that He is the way, the truth and the life and that no one comes to the Father except through Jesus. Post Modernists reject this statement and that there are many ways to God and Heaven, seen in pluralistic world views. People see this as just an opinion or idea and that Christianity’s position on sin and its consequences is falllacy.
Do you see how dangerous our society is becoming? People are growing up in a pool of lies and who is behind that - well we all know that Satan is the prince and power of the air. He is convincing people that other world views have truth as well.
One of my good friends believe that reincarnation is valid and that he will choose what he wants to get out of his next life. Yet, does not Jesus state that there is one life and then the judgment? Nevertheless, he would not adhere to the inherent inspiration of the scriptures. Actually he would believe that the Bible, although inspired in parts, was written by men and therefore cannot be read as gospel truth. This is just one example of how the devil is winning in our secular culture.
Existentialists would also debate whether the intended message of Christianity is still relevant today in that the Bible has lost its meaning in our culture. However, God is the same yesterday, today and forever. Christianity is not some void leap of faith that negates practical relevance in our culture. Christianity is the code of conduct that God has decreed on how to live our life and what to believe in. Existentialism in fact is more about contemporary philosophy than Christianity.
This only demonstrates that the enemy is cleverly disguising truth as opinion or irrelevant in our culture. We need warriors to stand up for the absolute truths of Christianity and to proclaim the liberty of Christian living.
It is interesting to see the dissension aroused based on Israel Foloa and Margaret Court’s comments pertaining to their faith. Despite how you see these cases, they are people who declare the Word of God as absolutes despising behavior associated to things such as drunkenness, homo sexuality and marriage. What courage we see from these fine athletes who have stuck up for their faith despite the dissension this has stirred up in our culture. Hats off to the heroes of our culture.
