Today we continue looking at Jesus’ ministry. Jesus came, God incarnate, God with us, to teach us the truth. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. True life is found in him. He gives life. As the breath of God breathed into Adam, and he became alive, those who have been born in spiritual death, have been breathed into by the Holy Spirit, giving true life, everlasting life.

That’s the confidence we have. That’s the true we live in. We are raised with Christ into new life. That new life courses through our veins. It is. And, it is something that we have received by God, from God. God graciously, mercifully gifts it to us. It is a gift. You don’t earn gifts! You earn wages. The wages of sin is death—you earn that by doing sinful things.

But the gift of God is everlasting life in Christ Jesus. We strive to do good, to think rightly, to live well, as acts of gratitude for the gifts given to us in Christ. Jesus promises these gifts, he promises himself, and he promises never to leave us nor forsake us, no matter what we do.

So, as we look at today’s passage, we need to understand that that’s where we operate out of. We operate out of God’s provision for us. God’s protection, God’s presence, God’s love.

It is out of that context that we are oper
