Paul had three reasons for why he wrote the book of Romans
To announce his planned visit to Rome to do ministry with and among the people
The Bible Knowledge Commentary Purposes
While Phoebe’s projected trip to Rome (Rom. 16:2) was undoubtedly the specific occasion for Paul’s writing this letter, he had several objectives in writing. The most obvious was to announce his plans to visit Rome after his return to Jerusalem (15:24, 28–29; cf. Acts 19:21) and to prepare the Christian community there for his coming
This is a great example of women being a leader in ministry. The person who delivered the letter was often the person who read it and answered questions people had to whatever was written in the letter

To deal with the tension between the Jews and Gentiles to show the need we all have for the blood of Jesus
1. The Biblical definition of love does not include the culture’s insistence of tolerating—even celebrating—sin:
“Love is also to be wise or discriminating. Real love does not love everything. On the contrary, it hates what is evil and clings to what is good [].
If we truly love, we will hate violence done to other people by whatever means. But we will love those who work for peace and even those who are guilty of the violence, because we will want to turn them from their ways. We will hate lying, but we will love the truth and will at the same time even love those who are lying, for we will see them as people who need a Savior.” (James Boice, Romans: Volume 4 , 1690).
2. The word Paul uses in verse 14 for“put on ”the Lord Jesus Christ (same as v. 12’s “put on” the armor of light) is the Greek word enduo (en-doo- oh), meaning “to sink into clothing, to put on, to clothe one’s self,”
Consider putting on a luxurious robe (one you can almost “sink into”) as an illustration of how we are to be covered in Christ when we become Christians.
uses this same word: “and put on the new self, which in he likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth,” (emphasis added).

was not only God’s means of leading Saint Augustine to faith in Christ, it was also a summary of his life. Verse 13 describes what he was.
Verse 14 describes what he became. St. Augustine lived a promiscuous life through his youth and even felt God pressing in on him to be saved, to which he would reply, “Presently, lo, presently” and “Leave me a little while,” because he wanted to live according to his flesh a little while longer (Saint Augustine, Confessions, 121). In other words, he avoided God and ran away from conviction for years. But after he was saved, St. Augustine became one of the most influential Christian theologians of his time. 4. One of the most effective ways to love others is to share Jesus with them in a genuine way. The following five minute video from self-pronounced atheist and celebrity Penn Jillette is an interesting appeal to share Christ if you love people:

Have you ever thought of it like that before? How much do you have to hate a person to not tell them about the eternal life you believe you will have when Jesus returns.
I know this is hard for us to understand sometimes because we have never seen heaven and what helps us to make sense of the world and how we interpret things are our senses, BUT JESUS IS COMING BACK SOON!
The life that I know is coming with Jesus I want everyone I know and love to be there with us. If I thought for one minute that there was some one I loved who wouldn’t be there you better believe I would have urgency to tell them how much I loved them and Jesus loved them........and that nothing can separate them from that love except for their decision to not trust Jesus.
When we trust Jesus.......what that looks like is living the way he asks us to live. And loving our neighbor as ourself means to trust Jesus and do all we can to help others see and experience the living Jesus through our lives so they can love and trust him too.
