Opening Prayer - KJP
Welcome
Family and friends We are gathered here today to join James Francis and Saba Asfaw in holy matrimony. Thank you for all of your support, prayers, times of care and love In the life of these two wonderful individuals.
James and Saba are here today to commit their lives to one another in marriage.
From the beginning God instituted marriage as a covenant between two people and for thousands of years it was practiced without knowledge of any greater purpose. However in Ephesians tGod tells us that what we practice as marriage is a symbol meant to help us understand Jesus and all those who believe in Him, called His church.
So as you hear James and Saba exchange vows hear Jesus and His commitment to her and as Saba gives her vows hear the Church and how she would respond to Jesus.
Initial Vow
James do you take Saba to be your wedded wife, to live together after Gods ordinance in the holy estate of matrimony? Will you love her, comfort her, honor and keep her in sickness and in health, for richer or poorer; and forsaking all others, keeping yourself only unto her for as long as you both shall live? Please respond with “I will”.
Saba do you take James to be your wedded husband, to live together after Gods ordinance in the holy estate of matrimony? Will you love him, comfort him, honor and keep him in sickness and in health, for richer or poorer; and forsaking all others, keeping yourself only unto him for as long as you both shall live? Please respond with “I will”.
Exchange of Personal Vows
Exchange of Rings
Now James and Saba will exchange rings as a symbol of their covenant and unending love for one another.
James please place the ring on Saba’s hand and repeat after me “with this ring, I thee wed, and pledge my love in the matchless name of Jesus Christ”
Saba please place the ring on James’ hand and repeat after me “with this ring, I thee wed, and pledge my love in the matchless name of Jesus Christ”
Sand Ceremony
Now James and Saba have chosen to perform a sand ceremony to symbolize their inseparable Union. Just as the sand is not able to be separated so too their union is permanent and inseparable.
Closing Prayer & Blessing - Darryl and Joanna Morrison
Forasmuch as James and Saba have consented together in holy wedlock and have witnessed the same before God and this company and have pledged their faith and love to each other, and have declared the same by exchanging vows, and by giving and receiving rings, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit I pronounce them husband and wife.
You may kiss the bride!
And now it is my privilege to present to you Mr. and Mrs. James Francis
