Having a Beatitude Attitude

Matthew 5:1-12

Intro. – What team are you on? There is a great divide between those that belong to the Lord and those that belong to the World. You cannot survive in both camps.

#1 Are you HUMBLE?

Know that we have need of the things of God

James 4:6"But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.”" (James 4:6, NKJV)

Meekness is part of humility. Meekness is NOT weakness. Jesus was meek, but He certainly was not week. It has the idea of gentleness.

Earth can also be translated land, and in this instance Jesus is referring to the land of Heaven.

#2 Are you HUNGRY

Desires the things of God

" As the deer pants for the water brooks, So pants my soul for You, O God. " (Psalm 42:1, NKJV)

They experience a deep desire for personal righteousness, which is, in itself, a proof of their spiritual rebirth. The psalmist proclaimed: “He satisfies the longing soul, and fills the hungry soul with goodness” (Ps. 107:9). This filling comes from God, who is the total source of satisfaction of His people. It comes now and it will continue to come throughout eternity to those who hunger and thirst for it.

#3 Are you HUNTED?

When you are doing good, those who are doing wrong will come against you.
