It is good to be back with you this morning. I missed you all. I had the opportunity to speak at South Gate Baptist two weeks ago. South Gate brings tacos the 2nd Wednesday night of the month and they have for the last 7 or so years. Last week, I was at Second Baptist church for the Mission Mobilization Summit. Second has supported us financially monthly since the church was planted.
Cameron taught us on sacrificial love the first week and last week, looked at pride as the enemy to sacrificial love. When our church partners call and ask us to come, we humble ourselves and go.
Many of you have been praying for my mom. I got the opportunity to visit her yesterday.

Please continue to pray for my momma and my dad. Pray for peace and rest for her.

..... Summary of where we have been....
This morning we begin to look at self in this wheel.
“many materially poor people are enslaved by a marred identity, a sense of inferiority and worthlessness that is both demoralizing and disempowering. These feelings can stem from many sources: previous failures in life; discrimination based on race, gender, or caste; oppressive systems; abusive people; and fatalistic worldviews that say people who are poor will always be poor. It’s difficult for many of us who are not materially poor to understand how enslaving a marred identity can be”

It is interesting that we will say things to ourselves about ourself that we would never imagine ever saying to anyone else.
Through this voice in our head and in our own hearts we start to believe the lies of satan and through this our identity becomes marred and distorted.
Genesis 1:26–27 HCSB
26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness. They will rule the fish of the sea, the birds of the sky, the livestock, all the earth, and the creatures that crawl on the earth.” 27 So God created man in His own image; He created him in the image of God; He created them male and female.
The image of Self according to scripture
2 Corinthians 5:16–18 HCSB
16 From now on, then, we do not know anyone in a purely human way. Even if we have known Christ in a purely human way, yet now we no longer know Him in this way. 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away, and look, new things have come. 18 Everything is from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation:
2 Corinthians 5:16-
If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away and look, new things have come!!
The identity immediately changes when you surrender to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
God has reconciled us to Himself through Christ!
Luke 15 HCSB
1 All the tax collectors and sinners were approaching to listen to Him. 2 And the Pharisees and scribes were complaining, “This man welcomes sinners and eats with them!” 3 So He told them this parable: 4 “What man among you, who has 100 sheep and loses one of them, does not leave the 99 in the open field and go after the lost one until he finds it? 5 When he has found it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders, 6 and coming home, he calls his friends and neighbors together, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, because I have found my lost sheep!’ 7 I tell you, in the same way, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over 99 righteous people who don’t need repentance. 8 “Or what woman who has 10 silver coins, if she loses one coin, does not light a lamp, sweep the house, and search carefully until she finds it? 9 When she finds it, she calls her women friends and neighbors together, saying, ‘Rejoice with me, because I have found the silver coin I lost!’ 10 I tell you, in the same way, there is joy in the presence of God’s angels over one sinner who repents.” 11 He also said: “A man had two sons. 12 The younger of them said to his father, ‘Father, give me the share of the estate I have coming to me.’ So he distributed the assets to them. 13 Not many days later, the younger son gathered together all he had and traveled to a distant country, where he squandered his estate in foolish living. 14 After he had spent everything, a severe famine struck that country, and he had nothing. 15 Then he went to work for one of the citizens of that country, who sent him into his fields to feed pigs. 16 He longed to eat his fill from the carob pods the pigs were eating, but no one would give him any. 17 When he came to his senses, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired hands have more than enough food, and here I am dying of hunger! 18 I’ll get up, go to my father, and say to him, Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight. 19 I’m no longer worthy to be called your son. Make me like one of your hired hands.’ 20 So he got up and went to his father. But while the son was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion. He ran, threw his arms around his neck, and kissed him. 21 The son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight. I’m no longer worthy to be called your son.’ 22 “But the father told his slaves, ‘Quick! Bring out the best robe and put it on him; put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. 23 Then bring the fattened calf and slaughter it, and let’s celebrate with a feast, 24 because this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found!’ So they began to celebrate. 25 “Now his older son was in the field; as he came near the house, he heard music and dancing. 26 So he summoned one of the servants and asked what these things meant. 27 ‘Your brother is here,’ he told him, ‘and your father has slaughtered the fattened calf because he has him back safe and sound.’ 28 “Then he became angry and didn’t want to go in. So his father came out and pleaded with him. 29 But he replied to his father, ‘Look, I have been slaving many years for you, and I have never disobeyed your orders, yet you never gave me a young goat so I could celebrate with my friends. 30 But when this son of yours came, who has devoured your assets with prostitutes, you slaughtered the fattened calf for him.’ 31 “ ‘Son,’ he said to him, ‘you are always with me, and everything I have is yours. 32 But we had to celebrate and rejoice, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ ”
Luke 15:1-
John 17:20–26 HCSB
20 I pray not only for these, but also for those who believe in Me through their message. 21 May they all be one, as You, Father, are in Me and I am in You. May they also be one in Us, so the world may believe You sent Me. 22 I have given them the glory You have given Me. May they be one as We are one. 23 I am in them and You are in Me. May they be made completely one, so the world may know You have sent Me and have loved them as You have loved Me. 24 Father, I desire those You have given Me to be with Me where I am. Then they will see My glory, which You have given Me because You loved Me before the world’s foundation. 25 Righteous Father! The world has not known You. However, I have known You, and these have known that You sent Me. 26 I made Your name known to them and will make it known, so the love You have loved Me with may be in them and I may be in them.
John 17:
“Given that individual brokenness is one of the causes of poverty, it is impossible to overstate the significance of the last sentence for our poverty alleviation ministries. People struggling with low self-esteem, chemical addictions, dysfunctional families, or poor work habits need to be liberated from bondage and restored to all that it means to be human, restored to what they were created to be. And that is exactly what salvation does for us. As Billings states, “Our new self in Christ, which comes forth from the future, is our true self.”12 This new self is not some stranger. It is you restored! It is who you really are. It is you, whole.”
