The Future of Community at One Hope

How do we grow (as a body?)
God’s Word
God’s Spirit
God’s People
What would happen if we lived out Biblical Community?
John 13:34–35 ESV
34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. 35 By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
The World would know
Acts 2:42 ESV
42 And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.
Acts 2:47 ESV
47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.
Acts 5:14 ESV
14 And more than ever believers were added to the Lord, multitudes of both men and women,
Acts 11:24 ESV
24 for he was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. And a great many people were added to the Lord.
The World would know.
The Church would grow.
We don’t want a big church, we want a full kingdom.
If God gives us more people we want to care for them.
The Church must never forget why it exists.
Revelation 7:9 ESV
9 After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands,
Romans 11:25 ESV
25 Lest you be wise in your own sight, I do not want you to be unaware of this mystery, brothers: a partial hardening has come upon Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in.
R
Matthew 22:8–10 ESV
8 Then he said to his servants, ‘The wedding feast is ready, but those invited were not worthy. 9 Go therefore to the main roads and invite to the wedding feast as many as you find.’ 10 And those servants went out into the roads and gathered all whom they found, both bad and good. So the wedding hall was filled with guests.
Acts 18:8–10 ESV
8 Crispus, the ruler of the synagogue, believed in the Lord, together with his entire household. And many of the Corinthians hearing Paul believed and were baptized. 9 And the Lord said to Paul one night in a vision, “Do not be afraid, but go on speaking and do not be silent, 10 for I am with you, and no one will attack you to harm you, for I have many in this city who are my people.”

Matthew 24:14 ESV
14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

Missional Engagement

We are called to make disciples wherever we find ourselves.
Missional Engagement in Groups
Understand your position in the world
If we know and love Jesus then anyone we come into contact with is closer to Jesus because He lives inside of us ()
2 Corinthians 5:20 ESV
20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.
2 Corinthians 5:21 ESV
21 For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
2. Pray, Pray, Pray
Mission begins and ends in prayer.
Prayer aligns our hearts to Gods
Praying for opportunities.
Pray earnestly for God to bring opportunities to engage.
Pray for courage to engage in those opportunities
At the very least, Pray for a heart that would become more like God’s heart because God has a passion for the lost.
Be Intentional
3. Be Intentional
Have a party
Pay attention to People
Listen
Ask questions
Pray
Have a missional mindset
4. Be Open & Be Honest
5. Be Honest
2 Corinthians 6:11–13 ESV
11 We have spoken freely to you, Corinthians; our heart is wide open. 12 You are not restricted by us, but you are restricted in your own affections. 13 In return (I speak as to children) widen your hearts also.
6. Be Accountable to One Another
Hebrews 10:24–25 ESV
24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
Hebrews 10:14–15 ESV
14 For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified. 15 And the Holy Spirit also bears witness to us; for after saying,
7. Pray Together
This changed the world.
Living out Biblical Community changed the world.
It started with 12 men
Then 120 ()
Then 3000 ()

Multiply Regularly

John 12:24 ESV
24 Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.
It was never ours to keep only to pass on.
The heart of a multiplier says “I want others to experience what I have experienced”
The Heart of the Gospel
We love because he first loved us. We want others to experienced the love of God.
2 Corinthians 5:14–15 ESV
14 For the love of Christ controls us, because we have concluded this: that one has died for all, therefore all have died; 15 and he died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised.
14 For the love of Christ compels us, because we have concluded this: that one has died for all, therefore all have died; 15 and he died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised.

Identifying Leaders
Who is hungry?
Who is passionate?
Who is consistent?
Who is teachable?
Who is humble?
Look for the 4 C’s
We are asking God to raise up leaders not out of need but out of a passion to pass on what they have experienced in Christ.
Identifying Leaders
What if we lived this way?
the World would know

The Church would grow
Why are we here?
