When we last left our story, Jacob had died and his sons had buried him back in Canaan.
They then returned to Egypt.
Genesis 50:15–17 NKJV
When Joseph’s brothers saw that their father was dead, they said, “Perhaps Joseph will hate us, and may actually repay us for all the evil which we did to him.” So they sent messengers to Joseph, saying, “Before your father died he commanded, saying, ‘Thus you shall say to Joseph: “I beg you, please forgive the trespass of your brothers and their sin; for they did evil to you.” ’ Now, please, forgive the trespass of the servants of the God of your father.” And Joseph wept when they spoke to him.

The brothers a still haunted by guilt,
They cannot believe the Joseph has truly forgiven them for what they did to him.
Have you ever had something so good you couldn’t believe it?
How many people do you know who don’t really believe Christ can forgive their sins?
What they done is to much, to bad, to be forgiven?
So the brothers go to Joseph with a story about what their father said.
Dad told us to tell you that he begged for you to forgive us.
