The other Six days

This is The Lord's prayer what he was talking to God about and what he desired for us what his wishes for his disciples and for us was. What he wanted to see accomplished in them when he was no longer there to instruct them activity by activity.

And we get to listen in on the Lord's heart for us.

To get yourself in this mindset i want you to imagine you are praying for your wife or for your child with no one listening were you can be honest with the Lord about your desires for them

This is a very special chapter because we get to hear the Lord’s heart for us. Without us interrupting or asking questions.

What does God want for us

I was staying with some friends in San Diego and it was good for me because I got to observe chtistians in their natural habitat

Every morning the husband would get up early to leave for work before anyone else was up a police officer trying to be a good testimony to other officers. and then his wife would get up to make coffee and read the bible till the kids got up.

And I thought this is what our ministry should do. It should help people be who God wants them to be where they are most of their life in their home at work in their routine.

We talk a lot about what we should do at church and who we should be at church

We talk a lot about how to treat other chritians how to serve the body of Christ

How we should sing how often we should go to church

We talk alot about Sunday

But does what we are doing here help you be what you are supposed to be the other six days of the week

Because even if you are very involved a very small percentage of your time is spent here.

And what if someone could not come here ?

They were in the hospital or nursing home

What if they were living on an island with a few hundred people ?

What if they were stationed on the international space station

What would it mean for them to be what God wanted them to be ?

What if you were on the back side of the desert for forty years ?

What if you were led of the spirit into the wilderness for forty days and did not go to church for forty days like Jesus.

Some of us would not know how to serve God in those situations because everything we know is connected to the church house.

But if you read the bible it is not written about a man in a church house it is written about a man in a garden

A man in a field

A man in a boat manufacturing yard

A man in a boat fishing

A man in the mountains tending sheep

A women in the field

A women at home struggling with having kids

Most of what God wants from us is not even visible things

Most of our service to him happens in our temple and it is not outward activities but inward activities.

It is easy for us to stay on the outward stuff but you can do all of those things and not be right with god. You can attend and tithe and you can sing. And be lost and do all those things

But what does god want from me when I wake up tomorrow on monday?

We do not want to create a split life were this is your spiritual life and tomorrow is my real life

And they do not touch each other

We want to stop compartmentalizing our christianity and we want to have it not only connected to the church but also connected to the kitchen the bedroom the yard the road and the workplace and the space station and the island and the backside of the desert.

We want to please him and give him what he wants because when we fulfill his desires we will also give us the desires of our heart and fulfill them with himself at the same time.

To know God

17:3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

Do you have eternal life

What is eternal life to know God

The only true God and you can't know him without Jesus Christ making a way for you to be able to have that relationship to begin to get to know him.

That is what Jeus wants for us and it out to be our life goal

That is what glorifies the lord

That is what he wants us to know him and to know him is to love him and to know him is to enjoy him to know him is to talk about him and praise him and sing about him and brag about him

To know god and to make him known

But if you know him you will have no trouble making him known.

If you eat a good meal it is not that good unless you can tell someone about it.

Could you imagine watching a good movie and not telling someone about it

Reading a good book and not sharing what you learned with someone.

Could you imagine meeting a wonderful person falling in love with them and not telling your family and friends about them?

Could you imagine meeting someone wonderful that wanted to spend time with you and you just decided to stay home and make mud pies ?

Listen if you know God everything else takes care of itself.

That is what he wants for us to know him

Do you know God ?

What does that say about God that he wants people to know him?

The devil does not want people to know him. He disguises himself as an angel of light. As a serpent in a tree.

The false prophet wears a disguise wolf in sheep's clothing.

You know only a pure being wants to get you to know them

And evil one shrouds himspelf in darkness lies coverup manipulation

It is all based on a lie

Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

I fear lest Satan beguiled.

What Does that say about God that he would say

3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

It says he is pure holy blameless true love light life

Have you ever had someone misunderstand you judge you misrepresent you and you were like if they just knew my heart?

You know why people misrepresent God and say he is a ruthless killer

They do not know him.

God wants you to know his heart for you

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

12 Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.

13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

Do you know him ?

I am in captivity I am looking to be delivered

Do You know that he has you here for your betterment?

Do you want to get to know him?

This is valentines day so I think this illustration would be important when we first got married I would say something and my wife would give me a look and I really thought the world was about to end and my life was about to be cut short and all hell was going to break loose and the atoms splitting was going to reach critical mass and all that look ment was hmmm I do not know what I think about that.

To be fair I came with some preconceived notions and i read some things in the situation and one day she told me no matter how much I dislike what you say the world will never end I will never yell at you and ruin your life. I said you are right i just need to get to know you and know what your looks mean

You know what God wants he want us to know him and

his thoughts and looks

He is not like what we knew before.

I know my wife what she thinks what she likes and dislikes

I can tell what my wife baked

I can tell what she designed

I can tell you which kid wrote what I know their handwriting.

Can you see God's signature

You know a lot of people come in the name of God

A lot of people say that God did things but did he

How do you know if it was a work of God he leaves his fruit behind

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

23 Meekness, temperance:

If that is not there it was not his work

How he changed and starting to exhibit fruit of the spirit sounds like it is real.

Some fruit was left behind by the work of God.

How do I know if it was God he always leaves his fruit behind

How do we get to know him ?

If that is what he wants ?

To know his Word

I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.

5 And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.

6 I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word. 1

7 Now they have known that all things whatsoever thou hast given me are of thee2.

8 For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them3, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me. 4

They kept it they knew it they received it they believed it

They knew all that by his words

You know what we need to do in the kitchen get in his words.

That is how we fulfill what he wants for us.

One of the men I know that is the most plugged in and knows God the most is Pastor Shemish the missionary we support to Thailand.

And every time I have seen that it is something he learned through looking at this life through the lense of the bible

4 Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord:

5 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:

7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

There is the will of God for you tomorrow morning this afternoon.

Do not let anything get between you and god's will for your life.

When you wake up

When you walk to the mailbox

When you are spending time with your children diligently teaching them about god

When you sit there show them God know him and make him known

When you lie down

You talk to him in the night seasons you let his words come to you upon your bed you know him

8 And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.

God wants his word to be a filter through which we take in this world

Change the way everything looks

Now instead of seeing you I see the lord in you his work his desire I seek to fulfill his will

It brings stabilization to my thoughts my emotions my morals my whole manner of life is changed

It changes how I see my kids my church my spouse my trials

How I see this world.

Stop seeing through everything and stop thinking it is all a coincidence child like faith

When you see through everything you soon see nothing. And when you read his words you see his care for man

This is how you know him, this is how you do not forget him.

Omitted the weightier matters of the law

Instead of having a biblical worldview they put the bible on their head.

Came home garbage piled up dog dead water coming out of the door came out so excited to see you

What happened we really appreciate this manual we memorized it and we got to gether with discussion groups about it. We gave testimonies about how much we liked it.

We even have a college to study it

But you missed the whole point of it you did not do it you did not learn what I wanted

That is how we treat the world of God

We do not use it to know God but to know the word.

How do we get to know him? We listen to his words.

Not just at the church but do you know them sir mam ?

To be unified

11 And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.

20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;

21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.

22 And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:

Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!

Look that is God’s desire.

Tomorrow not just here he wants you to be one me to be one

Disciples were in one accord

One Lord One faith one baptism

Are you one or do you have a compartmentalized life different the rest of the week

Or are you waking up in the morning seeking the same God going about the same mission

Trying to do the same thing to live for God to know him and please him.

Is there something hidden that creates distance

I cannot be one with someone without being honest and forthright

I cannot be one without wanting their best interest. Without being honest and kind.

I can't be one without being real.

Not too long ago we had a plumbing leak at the church and got the coper parts to sodder them together and thought I had it all to gether but did not get it together had a leak because I did not have it completely clean there was contamination it has to be clean copper on copper for the heat to allow the solder to weld them together

And if the holy spirit is going to weld us together we have to get rid of the contamination

Ananias came to the church and were never integrated because they were fake.

Are you real that does not mean let all your sin hang out it means clean it up cleanse your way.

That does not mean make other christians comfortable with your sin it means ditch the sin

To have his joy in us

13 And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves.

What does he want for me tomorrow ?

What does he want when i wake up ?

To have his joy fulfilled in us

As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.

If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.

These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.

And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.

And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.

Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

He wants us to be happy hopeful

Expectant

Looking for our joyous reunion with him

To be a light

18 As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.

19 And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.

20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;

21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.

You know we are good at talking to one another about God

But how many of us are good and reaching out to others outside our circle?

He said like i was sent into the world I send you

When he came he found some fishermen said follow me

He found some tax collectors

He found lots of people helped them

Told them the truth

He ate with them

He went hiking with them

He went camping with them

He traveled with them.

Let me ask you is it even a part of your life that you are going into the world like he went into the world

This is not about evangelism, it is about equipping the saints for the world of the ministry to go out.

If he was sent to your neighborhood he would have reached out to them

If he was sent to the international space station he would have tried to reach them

The will of God for us is that we would be reaching out loving ministering to other people.

It is hard makes people uncomfortable

You just have to love the Lord more than the Donald

Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.

Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Light of the world nothing about church just God's will for you

Are you good at it?

Is it part of your life?

Do you have his joy

Are you a light
