At times, the very things that drive us, end up demanding our lives one way or the other

Questions

What would you say they are?

List 3 things in your life, that if attianed, would make life better (knowledge, looks, friends/popularity, muscle, a position on a team or play or band)

Ever a time where these could be dangerous or hurtful to you?

These become the lense by which you view life. 

The litmus test for what is important and what is not

There are the most important things, then second most important, so on and so forth.

 Theres an order, and the order is important  

Why does the son of God want to tell us about the order?

Anyone know what is happening here?

How many times is the word "Take" used?

Israel thinks they need something…to be comfortable, to be in good hands, to be like everybody else

What do they want? 

How Does Samuel Feel about this?

What is God's reaction?

Them wanting to be like everyone else and have a king implies what?

God is not THE King

God is rejected

What happens when we are looking for (above named things that we pursue to lead us)

We may think they are going to give us life and it's what we want, but they end up taking life from us

When our allegiance is out of order, our very lives may suffer for it. Maybe, just maybe, the thing you want, wil be the thing you get, and it will take life from you

 you think: 

doing what your friends want you to do is going to give you life, but it’s going to take from you. 

engaging sexually is going to give you life, but it’s going to take from you. 

being so engrossed with social media gives you life, but it just keeps taking from you. 

Creation order

GOD, MAN, CREATION

We tend to live CREATION, MAN, …………………GOD SOMEWHERE

Sometimes we want something,

And the worse thing happens

God gives us what we want

And the people get their king

And there’s a take here, take there, take take take, until the life goes out of you

Think Halloween and your parents at age 5 let you eat all the candy you think you want
