10 / GETTING YOUR PRAYERS ANSWERED
Text: “And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive” ().

I. Pray Sincere Prayers

“The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much” ().

A. Many pray simply from habit. Some pray to impress others. These are weak and ineffective prayers.

B. We must pray earnestly and without pretense (). Our prayers must be directed to God. Sincere prayers receive answers.

II. Pray Specific Prayers

“In every thing by prayer … let your requests be made known unto God” ().

A. Some prayers are vague. They are indefinite and ineffective.

B. We must be specific when we pray. Jesus asked blind Bartimaeus, “What wilt thou that I should do unto thee?” Bartimaeus responded with a specific request and received a specific answer ().

III. Pray Selfless Prayers

“Pray one for another, that ye may be healed” ().

A. Many people pray selfishly. Their concern is for themselves and their own circumstances. Such prayers often go unanswered.

B. We must pray for others. God will care for us as we reach out to help the needy. He answers selfless prayers ().

IV. Pray Simple Prayers

“And the prayer of faith shall save the sick …” ().

A. Children feel free to bring requests to their parents. They come with simple words and complete faith that their needs will be met.

B. We must come to our heavenly Father in simplicity. Prayers are answered when we ask with childlike faith ().
