6 I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, 7 which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed.

Paul was writing to warn the Galatians that not all gospels are the same

there can only be one true gospel

there can only be one source of true gospel

We are surrounded by so many versions of the Gospel

we need to recognize thet rue gospel from the false ones

Definition

Gospel means “the good news”

but the gospel is good news only if man understands his spiritual predicament

Gospel is not confined to the story of Jesus’ life, death and resurrection

if it were, then there is no for Paul to warn the Galatians, because practically everyone speaks of Jesus’ life, death and resurrection

Characteristics of the True Gospel

It is Christocentric

Christocentric means Jesus Christ is the central theme

- the grace of Christ, the gospel OF Christ

- it has the power to save

It comes by revelation

It declares the whole counsel of God
