Introduction: Agenda - A lot of times when a company has a large meeting the officials will submit their agenda’s ahead of time. This allows everyone to know what topics will be discussed in the upcoming meeting.

Agenda:

1. A list of items to be discussed at a formal meeting.
2. A plan of things to be done or problems to be addressed.
3. The underlying intentions or motives of a particular person or group.

Last time we saw the importance of making God’s name holy - tonight we will see just how to do that.

The Prayer That Turns the World Upside Down: The Lord's Prayer as a Manifesto for Revolution Chapter 4: Your Kingdom Come: Whose Agenda Is Our Concern Anyway?

Regrettably, our familiarity often blinds us from seeing just how radical, even subversive, this prayer is.

What is the Kingdom?

City of God - 2 cities in the world
Perfect city: justice righteousness, mercy, holiness
Built on a love for God
City of Man
Flawed city: selfishness,
Built on a love for self
The Prayer That Turns the World Upside Down: The Lord's Prayer as a Manifesto for Revolution Chapter 4: Your Kingdom Come: Whose Agenda Is Our Concern Anyway?

the kingdom of God must be understood as something that is already here on earth but not yet fully present. In other words, the kingdom of God has been inaugurated but not yet consummated.

3. We live in the City of Man but are citizens of the Kingdom of God.
The Prayer That Turns the World Upside Down: The Lord's Prayer as a Manifesto for Revolution Chapter 4: Your Kingdom Come: Whose Agenda Is Our Concern Anyway?

We are praying that history would be brought to a close.

•     We are praying to see all the nations rejoice in the glory of God.

•     We are praying to see Christ honored as king in every human heart.

•     We are praying to see Satan bound, evil vanquished, death no more.

•     We are praying to see the mercy of God demonstrated in the full justification and acquittal of sinners through the shed blood of the crucified and resurrected Christ.

•     We are praying to see the wrath of God poured out upon sin.

•     We are praying to see every knee bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father.

•     We are praying to see a New Jerusalem, a new heaven, and a new earth, a new creation.

How does the Kingdom get here?

Not by Man - social gospel
Not by Influence - political gospel
Only by proclamation:
We preach Jesus with our lives.
We preach Jesus with our words.
We preach Jesus from the Bible.

When we pray for the Kingdom, ultimately we are praying for the ultimate rule and reign of God. Am I willing to pray this prayer?
