(1) v. 129 - 136 Longing for your wonderful word
"wonderful" - miracle, something unusual - , , This seems to be the Hebrew Letter emphasized.
v. 129 - 131 is a mini-inclusio. V. 129 declares the Word to be wonderful and the writers response to it. V. 130 are two works of the Word (compounding or developmental). V. 131 is again the writer’s response to the Word.
Two redemptive threads: (let no iniquity get dominion over me and Redeem me....) Both of these are only possible through the word kept - fulfilled in Christ.
Strictly, “*redeem” (pādâ) implies spending money (cf. 49:7 [8]), but usually it has a more general sense of procuring someone’s freedom or release from oppression (e.g., 25:22; 26:11; 78:42). Again, the object of liberation is not to be able to do as one wishes but to keep God’s *orders. “*Redemption,” recalling the redemption of a slave, helps underline that point. Yhwh’s procuring Israel’s freedom from oppression in Egypt gave Yhwh some rights over Israel (e.g., ). They are obliged to keep Yhwh’s orders.
Goldingay, J. (2006). Baker Commentary on the Old Testament:
(2) v. 137 - 144 Declaring that Your righteousness is righteous forever
The emphasis of this stanza is "righteousness" - This is consistent with the Hebrew Letter
This one along with the last stanza show a passion on the part of the writers for those who do not keep the law.
(3) v. 145 - 152 Calling for a Response
The emphasis of this stanza is "cry"
Both the nearness of the enemies and the nearness of the Lord are identified.
(4) v. 153-160 Imploring God to look and cause me to live according to his promise.
The emphasis of this stanza is "give me life" (quicken)
This one along with 129-136 and 137-144 show the grief of this song writer for those who do not keep the law.
What question does this imperative answer?
