The Book of Acts is about the Acts of the Holy Spirit through Jesus’ Apostles and His church.
As a result, the Holy Spirit is central to this entire book and the New Testament church - which we are a part of.

Why the Holy Spirit?

Jesus felt that the Holy Spirit was enough for us.
The Holy Spirit was not a downgrade from Jesus in the flesh

Romans 8:11 LEB
11 And if the Spirit of the one who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you, the one who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also make alive your mortal bodies through his Spirit who lives in you.
The Holy Spirit that Jesus gave to us is the SAME spirit that empowered His ministry on earth.
If the Holy Spirit was enough for Jesus, The Holy Spirit is enough for me!

Who is the Holy Spirit?

Acts 19:2 NKJV
2 he said to them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” So they said to him, “We have not so much as heard whether there is a Holy Spirit.”

Spirit of Wisdom & Revelation

Ephesians 1:17–21 NKJV
17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, 18 the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, 19 and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power 20 which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, 21 far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.
- that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, 18 the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, 19 and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power 20 which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, 21 far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.

Spirit of Power, Love, & a Sound Mind

2 Timothy 1:6–7 NKJV
6 Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. 7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV
7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

Spirit of Grace

Hebrews 10:29 NKJV
29 Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing, and insulted the Spirit of grace?

Unmerited Favor
God’s Divine Ability
The Divine impression upon the heart & its reflection in the life

Spirit of Adoption

Romans 8:15–16 NKJV
15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” 16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,
Romans 8:15 NKJV
15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.”
Adoption = Placing as a son
Matthew 3:16–17 NKJV
16 When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. 17 And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
We have not been adopted as illegitimate children who have lesser promises or inheritance from God.
We are full-blooded children of God because of the Holy Spirit.
This is not the first time a human being has been the son of God.
Luke 3:38 NKJV
38 the son of Enosh, the son of Seth, the son of Adam, the son of God.
We were created with the intent to be God’s children, not children of the Devil.
Jesus, through the Holy Spirit, restores us to full-sonship with God.

The 4-Point Gospel:

God’s Creation
Satan’s Deception
Jesus’ Substitution
Mankind’s Restoration
Perhaps the most dignifying thing that a person can hear in their life is that:
God Himself chose YOU to be His child and part of His family!

Acts 19:1–6 NKJV
1 And it happened, while Apollos was at Corinth, that Paul, having passed through the upper regions, came to Ephesus. And finding some disciples 2 he said to them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” So they said to him, “We have not so much as heard whether there is a Holy Spirit.” 3 And he said to them, “Into what then were you baptized?” So they said, “Into John’s baptism.” 4 Then Paul said, “John indeed baptized with a baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe on Him who would come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.” 5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 6 And when Paul had laid hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke with tongues and prophesied.

Just One Thing:
