John-We gather today to celebrate the love between Jame and Jose. What makes it special for each of us is the love we all share for them. You’re here today not just because of your love for them, but because of their love for you and their desire for their family and friends to take part in this special day.
Let us pray
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Would you please face one another and hold hands.
Jame and Jose, the relationship you enter into today must be grounded in the strength of your love and the power of your faith in Christ. To make your relationship succeed it will take unconditional love. It will take trust, to know, in your hearts that you truly want what is best for one another and to learn and grow together. It will take faith, to go forward together, without knowing what the future holds. There’s this idea that love is 50-50. I don’t think that’s true. Some days, it’ll be 80-20, 70-30, 90-10. Some days, one of you will have to step it up as the other struggles. You might have to lift more than normal to keep it at 100 %. That’s what love is. It’s this coming alongside of someone in all circumstances and all situations and being present and available and willing to take on more than normal. If you both come freely and understand the responsibility and work involved to make your relationship thrive, and are committed to Christ, each other, and your family, please reply “we do”.
Individual vows
Jose-say vows first
Jame-says vows
John-You make up the ring ceremony wording
Now that you have said your vows to one another, it’s time to exchange rings. Jose, I invite you to place your ring on Jame’s finger. Jame, I invite you to place your ring on Jose’s finger. Each of these rings is a circle without beginning or without end. Each time you look at your ring, it should be a reminder of your spouses unending and unwavering commitment and love towards you.
Now, with this coming together of two people who will now become one, they each bring with them families who will now also be one family.
Family Vows—
Jose, Do you promise to be a good and faithful husband and also a patient loving step-father to Maci Kate and Crews, caring for them, and providing for them as your own. Do you promise to be their strength and their emotional support, loving them with all your heart forever? (I Do)
John speaking to MK and Crews-And now Maci Kate and Crews, do you promise to love and respect your moms’ new husband? Do you promise to support their marriage and new family? Do you promise to accept the responsibility of being their children, and to encourage them and support them in their new life together? (We do)
Jame- Do you promise to be a good and faithful wife and also a patient loving step-mother to Amari, Oscar, and Eliseo, caring for them, and providing for them as your own. Do you promise to be their strength and their emotional support, loving them with all your heart forever? (I Do)
John speaking to Amari, Oscar, and Eliseo-And now Amari, Oscar, and Eliseo, do you promise to love and respect your father’s new wife? Do you promise to support their marriage and new family? Do you promise to accept the responsibility of being their children, and to encourage them and support them in their new life together? (We do)
Sand Ceremony
The bride and Groom have decided that today they would like to perform a Sand Ceremony.
What this means is they are taking sand and pouring it into a beautiful container creating a symbol that will last a lifetime.
It is something they can look at and always remember this day. Each member of their family has a different color of sand they would like to add to this work of art. Like a tapestry of their lives together and the beauty each of them brings. What makes this special, is it is not only bride and groom but their children too. Because today, they are coming together to say this day forward, they are family!! And every member is important!!
As we do this today, they would like to remember all those who are important in their lives.
Amari, Oscar, Maci Kate, Crews, and Eliseo, are you ready for your parts? Are you ready to say you are all family? OK!! Let’s do it! Let’s take one moment to look at each container of sand. Once they are poured together, we can never separate them again. Each bit of sand is it’s on unique color, just as each participant in this is their own unique person. And so, with all of their differences, they will now come together, and it’s each individual’s uniqueness coming together today that will make this family beautiful and unified. Each grain of sand is so tiny, we could never do it. There’s nothing that anyone or antying can do that overcome the bonds you’re creating today. When they are poured together, they’ll have created something no one else ever can. So, remember that as special as this is, so is your family. The seven of you together are a very special family and like no other. Celebrate this special bond that you will always have with one another.
(Sand is poured in container)
John-Above all things have intense and unfailing love for one another.
Jame and Jose face your family and friends…and I want to be the first to say congratulations, and I wish you both happiness and love forever, Mr. and Mrs. Jose Deleon. Jr…you may kiss your bride.
