“We are a company of people who have been called out of the world by God”

1 John 5:1–5 ESV

1 Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God, and everyone who loves the Father loves whoever has been born of him. 2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and obey his commandments. 3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome. 4 For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. 5 Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

Called out of the World

Luke 12:

John 17:14 ESV

14 I have given them your word, and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.

Luke 12:48 ESV

48 But the one who did not know, and did what deserved a beating, will receive a light beating. Everyone to whom much was given, of him much will be required, and from him to whom they entrusted much, they will demand the more.

When we believe in Jesus Christ we are born again ()

We are a new creation, the old is gone. The new is has come.

John 17:16 ESV

16 They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.

We have a great responsibility. Jesus said in “…everyone to whom much was given of him much will be required.”

We have been given divine grace, He has a lot of work for us to do.

Called out to overcome the World

1 John 5:4–5 ESV

4 For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. 5 Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

1 John 5:

In Christ, God has overcome the world completely.

We overcome challenges in this world with our faith

Jesus has already overcome death, the power of sin, we have to walk in the power and direction of the spirit daily to overcome the world around us.

Called Out to Show the World

Galatians 6:2 ESV

2 Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.

7 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God.
