What does it mean?

Physically and forcibly separated into pieces, or cracked or split.

Subdued or brought low in condition or status.

To be or become separated into pieces or fragments.

To be or become weak or crushed in spirit.

There is a difference between being broken and being crushed.

To be crushed

To be compressed out of natural shape or condition.

To be broken into small pieces.

Luke 20:18 NASB95

18 “Everyone who falls on that stone will be broken to pieces; but on whomever it falls, it will scatter him like dust.”

A broken spirit is defended by others, an arrogant spirit is not.

When you think about being broken, are your thoughts painful and tender or are they painful and bitter?

You can be broken physically without being broken spiritually

True Brokenness

Is easily identified by others

Does not defend itself

Is not bitter

Is yielded

Is Humble

Is Submitted

Is grateful

Is Tender

Is totally surrendered

Is truly aware of its own humanity

Stubbornness and pride keep us from being broken.

Will God rescue us when we are broken?
