Intro

The common denominator that we see in marriages that starts the road to a weakened marital health is diluted and diminishing communication.
long distant engagement - there was no FaceTime or Skype - phone bill was 2 car notes…I was paying hers. If we were going to connect, it’d be by our ability to communicate. When we started living together as a married we SLOWLY we started to take for granted that we’d see each other. Not only was the meaningful communication diminished, but the surface conversations were too and they began to become predictable.
This remains one of the first thing we’ve witnessed w couples when it comes to marriage
Level 1: Sharing Cliches and Superficiality
Level 2: Sharing Information
Level 3: Sharing Ideas & Opinions
Level 4: Sharing Values & Feelings
Level 5: Sharing Intimacy & Confession
Q: Could we overlay the way a couple, friends, lovers talk to each other for our walk, our communication w God?
A: Absolutely!
Here’s the problem, the same reason I/we noticed slippage in the strength of our marriage that led to loss of connection is what is happening and has happened with you and your relationship with God.
Point: Prayer seems to be a dying art.
How fluid are you in moving up and down the list with the One that really matters?
Ill: Was stuck in traffic on Howell Mill. President Trump in town. Found a restaurant. Sitting there getting set up “I just believe God is going to...” The next minute cussing, b this, itch, N-word. It sounds to me like some and before you judge them, what would I have heard if you’d been sitting next to me with a table full of your friends?!
Question are you ok with ...
reducing God to a tilly machine?

Ex. They get ready to go into promised land. Listen to the language God speaks to them in… His promise isn’t conditional
Deuteronomy 31:8 NKJV
8 And the Lord, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed.”
Isaiah 45:2 NKJV
2 ‘I will go before you And make the crooked places straight; I will break in pieces the gates of bronze And cut the bars of iron.
Numbers 14:14 NKJV
14 and they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land. They have heard that You, Lord, are among these people; that You, Lord, are seen face to face and Your cloud stands above them, and You go before them in a pillar of cloud by day and in a pillar of fire by night.
Deuteronomy 1:10 NKJV
10 The Lord your God has multiplied you, and here you are today, as the stars of heaven in multitude.
Deuteronomy 1:8–11 NKJV
8 See, I have set the land before you; go in and possess the land which the Lord swore to your fathers—to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob—to give to them and their descendants after them.’ 9 “And I spoke to you at that time, saying: ‘I alone am not able to bear you. 10 The Lord your God has multiplied you, and here you are today, as the stars of heaven in multitude. 11 May the Lord God of your fathers make you a thousand times more numerous than you are, and bless you as He has promised you!
And the same promises He made to them, He’s made to you! He just wants to have relationship with you while He’s bringing you to where He said He would!
And the same promises He made to them, He’s made to you! He just wants to have relationship with you while He’s bringing you to where He said He would!
The sadder truth is that my voice, this sermon will get lost in the midst of Atlanta House wives, Love and Hip Hop, Early morning talk radio, Facebook/IG/Twitter/Snapchat, CNN news cycle of Coronavirus, the election and whatever else doesn’t make a difference.
Jeremiah 33:3 NKJV
3 ‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’
Jer 3.33
Chapter 33 concludes “The Book of Consolation.”
“Jeremiah found himself addressing a nation hurtling headlong toward judgment from God. The Israelites may have feared the future as the outside powers drew near, but rather than respond with humility and repentance, the people of Judah primarily lived as islands unto themselves, disregarding both the Lord’s commandments and the increasing danger that resulted from their disobedience.”
Jeremiah found himself addressing a nation hurtling headlong toward judgment from God. The Israelites may have feared the future as the outside powers drew near, but rather than respond with humility and repentance, the people of Judah primarily lived as islands unto themselves, disregarding both the Lord’s commandments and the increasing danger that resulted from their disobedience
the restoration of israel and judah reaffirmed (chap. 33)
a. The coming judgment and future restoration (33:1–13)
(1) The judgment (33:1–5).
33:1–3. Chapter 33 followed closely the message of chapter 32 as Jeremiah was still confined in the courtyard of the guard (cf. 32:1–2). God again identified Himself to Jeremiah by stressing both His power and His character. He is the God who made the earth (cf. 32:17). By revealing to Jeremiah that the Lord (Yahweh) is His name, God emphasized His covenant-keeping faithfulness on behalf of His people (cf. 32:18; ). Jeremiah did not understand how God could restore a nation that was destined for doom (cf. ), so God challenged the prophet to call to Him for understanding. God promised to answer by revealing great and unsearchable things.

A very simple on-ramp to prayer. Ask
Note: Different niche’s to prayer.

Ask

Jeremiah 33:3 NKJV
3 ‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’
to call on v. — to have recourse to or make an appeal or request for help or information to.
Translation: Can’t nobody do this but You!
And if you don’t believe God will, you are likely not to call Him first!
Let one of my children say “Dad!” I can tell you 1) which one it is 2) what’s probably going on 3) if they are scared, happy, sad, puzzled or angry 4) how much it’s going to cost me!
Q: Why?
A: cause they are my child!
You need to get the revelation of who you are...
John 1:12–13 NKJV
12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: 13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
And if God is a distant, cosmic, indifferent, impersonal, spooky, force to you, then no wonder you don’t talk to Him! But for a few of us, Way-maker, Miracle worker, Promise Keeper, Light in the Darkness, My God, that is Who You are!!!!!

All the translations are doing is saying when God talks, He can do it with picture, can you hear what He’s saying?
Ill: Uncle Abe and Auntie Dottie would play spades but they’d cheat. They would send signs. Depending on where they’d touched . They’d talked through what the signals were going to be AND It only worked because they’d worked together as spades partners for a long time an.
Pt: some of y’all would make God a poor Spades player cause you don’t understand what He’s saying! When He shows, He’s at the same time saying!!!!
