Title: Life in the Blood
Introduction: Long before medical science discovered the significance of the circulation of the blood in the human body and its importance for life, Scripture told us that the blood was the life. In the human body there are many different kinds of tissues. We define them as muscles, nerves, fat glands, bones, connective tissues. All of these have one thing in common: they are fixed cells having specific but limited functions. Unlike these fixed issues, the blood is fluid and mobile tissue, it is not limited to one part of the body but it is free to move through out. In the human body, 5 quarts of blood are pump by the heart every 23 seconds so that every cell is body is constantly supplied and cleansed and at the same time is in constant communication with every cell in the body.
However, once the blood fails to reach the cells and members of the body, they promptly die. No man ever dies until the blood ceases to circulate. Life is in the blood. You can’t live without the blood. This us points to greater spiritual truth. The church of Jesus Christ is called his body and we are members of his body. Like how the blood flows in the body, each member of his body depends on the blood of Jesus to live and be effective. The church cannot live w/o the blood. Life is in the blood. (The blood stopped reaching or can’t reach some people)
But something happened to our blood. It is not the way that God created it. It is not pure and as effective as it was designed to be. It has been contaminated. Human blood due to the fall of Adam is prone now and forever to contamination. Our blood can be diseased. It can clot. It can thin. Its volume can be insufficient. It can cause things like aneurisms. But although it became perishable it is still vital and we can not be alive without it. However, there is still hope! God has given us a way to help restore our lives by making it possible to get rid of our bad blood. He made blood available that is incorruptible that won’t be contaminated with disease and won’t clot. And there is not going to be any plaque build ups therefore no aneurisms. It is pure, perfect and always flows properly. It not only sustains your life but it will give you eternal life that can be live out now with joy! We can receive this life by just believing in this blood by faith. The blood I am talking about is the blood of Jesus. This Resurrection Sunday we come to celebrate the power of the blood! God wants to give someone a blood transfusion from heaven to give you a new life in Jesus Christ.
The blood is good news for us who believe. We have promises tied to it. Let me tell you about the promises of the blood:
I. The Blood keeps us clean
1 John 1:7b, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanse us from all sin”.
Some of us have been living a dirty life and don’t know how to get clean. You tried everything you could but you are still dirty with pain, hurt and confusion. The blood is Bible bleach that will clean you up and make you whiter than snow! Your sins are wiped away forever! God will give you a new slate on life because of the blood of Jesus.
II. The Blood Justifies
Rom 5:9 “Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him”
Not only you were dirty, you should have got into trouble for the stuff you have done. But because of the blood, you were justified. Justified means cleared from any charges or guilt. My beloved, you have been charged with some stuff and if the truth be told, it don’t look good for you. But the blood justified you and God dropped all your charges! You were guilty! You were a sinner. But you were acquitted from your wrong because of the blood. When God sees you, He looks at you through the blood and can see no wrong! So, despite what people may think, you been justified by the Blood of Jesus! The charges have dropped and case is closed forever!
III. The Blood Redeems
Eph 1:7”In him we have redemption through his blood,”
To redeem means to purchase something back that has been lost. You were lost in trespasses and sin and the devil had you hostage but Jesus thought you were worth it and paid a ransom for you. Jesus paid the high price of his blood and brought you back. And now you are back where God intended you to be. That is with him! He put you back in the presence of God…
IV. The Blood give us peace
Col 1:20 “and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross”
Without the Lord you have no peace. You think losing a best friend is bad. Living without the peace of God and not having peace with God is a terrible thing. You are absolutely miserable. The blood of Jesus makes you at peace at all levels. I no longer make God turn away from me. But I make him turn towards me because I give him glory in my living. We are in relationship now! God is with me and I am with God and life is good! There may be somebody here who has no peace but I plead of Jesus over you right now to give you peace!
V. The Blood sanctifies us
Heb 13:12 “Therefore Jesus also, that He might sanctify the people with His own blood”,
I was sanctified when I said yes to Jesus and I am being sanctified by the perfecting work of the Holy Spirit until the day I meet Jesus in the air! Sanctification means to set apart for God or to be holy. God sets you on apart from things that are not like him. The blood makes a sinner holy in the sight of God and start the sanctification process.
Result: The Blood give us Victory
Rev 12:11 “They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb”
The result of the blood of Jesus is that become victorious over issues and struggles in your life! In other words, you are winner not a loser any more! You are more than a conqueror because of the blood. You can do all things in Christ because of the blood! No weapon can prosper because of the blood! You got the victory because of the blood! Look at your neighbor tell them, “I got victory!”
Even if we look at the chemical structure of blood you see how Jesus will work in your life.
Blood is made up of three components: erythrocytes, leucocytes, antibodies.
Erythrocytes-Erythrocytes are red blood cells that oxygenated the body for energy and bring nutrients. Also, they remove waste in the blood stream keeping it clean. Jesus is like my erythrocytes. By the power of His blood I have the power and the nourishment I need in my life not just to live but to live abundantly. Also, the power the blood of Jesus also keeps me clean from the toxins of life.
Leucocytes-Leucocytes are white blood cells. They are the defense mechanism part of the blood. When something is infecting the blood, they rush to the site of the infection and fight what is attacking the blood. The amount increases in time of emergency. However, some of these cells are killed. Then more blood comes other white blood cells come to the scene and clean up the battle field and build new tissue in the once infected area. Jesus’ blood is like my leucocytes. When something was infecting me that would have killed my soul, Jesus rushed to the scene and fought for me. The more trouble I got the more He increases in my emergency! Like some of the leucocytes, He died in the battle for my life. But the blood that was spilled not only saved me and like leucocytes, healed me and built me up with the power that raised Jesus from the dead!
Antibodies-Antibodies are there to prevent the disease that once infected me from happening again.
Jesus is just like antibody. Once he has delivered me for a situation, He is there to make sure that I don’t have to deal with that issue again. So he puts a hedge a protection around me and I am free from problem forever. And He who the son set free is free indeed!
Close: My brothers and my sister, every drop of blood which flowed in Jesus body is still fresh as it was on Calvary! It is the same blood that flowed from his unbroken skin on his forehead in Gethsemane. It is the same blood the smeared is back after being cut by whips of glass and sheep bone. It is the same blood that the crown of thorns squeezed out his brow. It is the same blood that the nails caused to ooze out of his hands and feet. It is the same blood that came out of his pierced side. It is the same blood that died for me that gives me victory! There is life in the blood!
Celebration: Church, I just stopped by here to tell you something I know. I know it was the blood. I know it was the blood. I know it was the blood for me. One day I was lost, He died on the cross I know it was for me! It was my Savior’s blood. It was my Savior’s blood. It was my Savior’s blood for me! One day I was lost, He died on the cross I know it was blood for me.
Now want to ask you a question. Would you be free from the burden of Sin? There is power in the blood. Would you o’er evil a victory win? There is power in the blood. There is power, power wonder working power in the Blood!!
pleading the blood is simply the taking hold of the authority and power available to us by the death and resurrection of Jesus.
