FULLNESS OF TIME

            Deut. 6:11 And houses full of all good things, which thou filledst not, and wells digged, which thou diggedst not, vineyards and olive trees, which thou plantedst not; when thou shalt have eaten and be full;

            Esther 3:5 And when Haman saw that Mordecai bowed not, nor did him reverence, then was Haman full of wrath.

            Isaiah 30:26  26 Moreover the light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold, as the light of seven days, in the day that the LORD bindeth up the breach of his people, and healeth the stroke of their wound.

Habbakuk 2:2-3 And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. 3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.

Luke 1:20d – “…my words, which shall be fulfilled in their season...”

Luke 1:23 And it came to pass, that, as soon as the days of his ministration were accomplished, he departed to his own house.

Luke 1:57 Now Elisabeth’s full time came that she should be delivered; and she brought forth a son.

Ephesians 1:9-14

 Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself: 10 That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him: 11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will: 12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. 13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, 14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory[1]

Galatians 4:4-7

 4 But when the fullness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, 5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. 6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. 7 Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.

The main verb in v. 10 normally means to sum up or recapitulate a complex discourse in a brief summary (cf. Rom. 13:10). The verb may, however, have been taken to mean “to bring to a head” and associated with the metaphoric use of “head” (of a body; see 2 Esdras 12:17-18, neb). [3]

God always works in the 'fullness of time'.  He is not bound by man's schedules or contraints.  When time swells...when it becomes enlarged it is ready to produce the fruit of the Spirit...the will of God. 

When God's time becomes full...satan's time becomes weak and moves toward the final dissolution. 

. When the fullness of time arrived, God gave Baby Jesus to Mary; and that baby grew up to die on the cross for the sins of the world.

Babies are fragile, but God uses the weak things of the world to confound the mighty (1 Cor. 1:26–28). Babies must have time to grow up, but God is patient and is never late in accomplishing His will. Each baby God sends is a gift from God, a new beginning, and carries with it tremendous potential. What a tragedy that we live in a society that sees the unborn baby as a menace instead of a miracle, an intruder instead of an inheritance.

Luke 1:20d – “…my words, which shall be fulfilled in their season...”

2 Tim 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine.

I Peter 1:8      Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory.

2 John 12  Having many things to write unto you, I would not write with paper and ink: but I trust to come unto you, and speak face toc face, that our joy may be full.

Rev.4:8  And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they resta not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.

Rev. 14:15 And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe.

Rev, 15:8 And the temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God, and from his power; and no man was able to enter into the temple, till the seven plagues of the seven angels were fulfilled.

The skin with which God clothed Adam and Eve perpetually reminded them of God’s provision. Similarly in the fullness of time God accepted the sacrifice of Christ, and on the basis of that atonement He clothes believers in righteousness (Rom. 3:21-26).

Ruth had been barren in Moab for the entire period of her marriage to Mahlon (1:4-5). Now her faithful obedience was rewarded as God gave her conception. In a sense this foreshadowed the miraculous birth of the Son of God that would take place in Bethlehem when the fullness of time had come (Luke 1:26-38; 2:1-7; Gal. 4:4). The sojourn in Moab lasted at least 10 years (Ruth 1:4). By contrast, within a few short weeks of their return to Bethlehem, Naomi and Ruth had experienced blessing that was rich and full.

It would appear that the fullness of time has come and that the ebb has spent itself, so that the swelling tide is bound to rise. The divine law of progress will operate as soon as the wills of men are so conditioned as to be ready. Whether we have to deteriorate to a new low, worse than anything we have known before, in order that our minds and hearts may be conditioned to seek the Lord I do not know, but the turning of people unto God as the only hope gives a suggestion that the time for revival is here. There is certainly a realization by many that a revival must come in the numerous calls which are overwhelming evangelists for the first time in many years.

Specifically the coming of Christ in the fullness of time marked the end of the old order and the beginning of the new. The typical, earthly inheritance finds its fulfillment in Jesus Christ. The establishment of the NT Church was in direct fulfillment of the promises given to Abraham, who together with all his faithful seed was looking for the heavenly inheritance (Heb 11:10, 16[15]

 Standing between Moses and Paul, Isaiah links the creation and re-creation concepts of the day of the Lord as a fullness of time. He prophesies that “in the day” of the Lord’s saving action “the light of the sun will be sevenfold, as the light of seven days” (Isa 30:26). The day of the Spirit, both Alpha and Omega, is a sevenfold fullness of time, a manifestation of the full mystery of the sevenfold glory of the Spirit[17]
