13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness,
Intro : Image Paul sitting in prison guarded by Roman Solders. Somethings we know about Paul: He was a prayer warrior.(Paul and Salas) He loved Jesus and loved to share Jesus. He would share Jesus with the roman Solders that guarded him. As he notice these Solders and what they wore, it reminded him of God protection.
Just like a soldier had to be properly dresses for battle, we also have to be properly dressed for battle.

Last week we looked at knowing the enemy: Satan is the enemy of God, so that makes him the enemy of all followers of Jesus. He is powerful. He is a deceiver: He is a divider; He is a destroyer:
a. He’s goal is for people to go to hell; but once you are truly saved and you are no longer bound for hell, he wants to destroy your testimony.

b. This spiritual battle that we are in is not part time. It is fierce battle. Satan is always on the attack. But, the good news is we are not alone. God is with us and He is more powerful then Satan.
4 You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.
a. Christ who is in us, is greater then Satan. But, we have to not give in to Satan, we have to submit to God.
b. With Christ in us we are able to resit the devil.
7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
To submit yourself unto God is to be under obedience to him. To His truth. (The whole armor of God)
a. When we resit the devil in the power of Jesus, he has to leave us. He will come back. This way it is important to put on the whole armor of God.
b. Through Gods word Paul show us how we are the dress for battle.

c. Our military as come a long ways when it comes to being dressed for battle. Elab the Revolution it was about how we you looked. Today it’s about protection.
d. The armor of God is about protect from our enemy the devil.
VS 10-11
“Whole Armor of God”
6 pieces of Armor. 5 Defensive 1 Offensive.
a. Every piece of the Armor is needed. Not just what you think is important. Not what you think you need for the day.
b. It is important to put on all the armor, leave nothing exposed for the devil to attack.
1. . Notice that God gives us nothing to protect our back.
a. He wants no deserters, no cowards. He wants us to stand in the fight against our enemy.

2. first lets look at the truth. One of the devils ways of attacking is error.
14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness,

Key here in the “Truth”
a. The internet is an amazing thing we have today. You can search the web and find information about anything. That is a good thing, that is a bad thing. What you find is not always truth.
b. Satan loves to distort the truth with error. God’s word is the truth because He is the truth.
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
16 So that he who blesses himself in the earth Shall bless himself in the God of truth; And he who swears in the earth Shall swear by the God of truth; Because the former troubles are forgotten, And because they are hidden from My eyes.

17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.
2. Paul uses the belts (girdle) as the first piece of Armor.
a. 6’’ or 8” piece of leather. This was commonly use in Rome. Not always leather, but other material worn by everyday Romans.

c. Roman solders didn’t see this a part of their armor, but Paul sees the belt as the first piece of Armor. The girdle of truth.
1 Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,
d. If we want to advance (move forward) in the battle with have to be girded with the truth.
13 Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
B. Used for attacking
a. It supported the weight of his sword. (Across shoulder)
B. Use for awarding.
3. Th power of the girdle. TRUTH
a. God’s word is truth. It’s not about ones opinion. People will say (about Gods word) I just don’t believe that, like that’s going change the truth.
Or times have changed, will God’s word is still still truth.
b. In our day it seems the truth doesn’t matter. “will as long you believe in something” or “You just believe in what you want to believe” “As long as you believe in something”
c. All the truth we need is in Gods word.
Jesus said: “I am the truth” And we have to arm ourselves with the truth, and be stand to stand against the lies of the devil.
d. We need to know the truth about God, we to know the truth about Christ that is in the Bible.
e. I try my best to teach you the truth. Too many churhes are not doing that anymore.
2 Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers;

f. Itching ears: Means that want to hear some stories that make them feel good. Sometimes the truth of God’s word hurts.
12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
g. That is the truth of Gods word.
h. For me,I preach God’s word. But I want to hear the truth of Gods word. Conf, Revival when I get the chance, because I need it. I want to hear with preachers that preach the truth.
i . We find the truth in Gods word. The more time we spend in it, the more we will know him. The more we know Him, the greater we will be prepared for battle and to use our sword (God’s word)
f. When we grid ourselves with the truth (God’s word)
j. It’s important to do this so we can not just talk the talk, but walk the walk.
2. last thing. This belt that the Roman solder wore, held this sword in place. The sword is the only offensive piece of armor. The sword is the word of God.
k.
a. It was a short. It was used in battle it was used it inflict energy on the enemy.
b. The sword of the spirit, which is the word of God hung from the belt of truth.
Jesus is praying.
7 Now they have known that all things which You have given Me are from You.
17 Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.
John 17:
Conclusion: Are you everyday girded in the truth? Are you living your life in the truth?
