Introduction

Good Morning! My name is Danny Watton and I am your service pastor. I want to thank you for coming this morning and I pray that you had a blessed week.
Again I want to ask the Holy Spirit to give me the words to say today as we are continuing through the book of Revelation.
My aim as we go through this book is that we can have a hope, an excitement of the future that we have in Heaven with our God for eternity.
Last week we looked at an image of Christ that John saw in a vision. He saw the Son of Man standing in the middle of seven lamp stands, holding seven stars with his face shining like the sun and a two edged sword coming from His mouth.
Our take away from last week was that Jesus ordains His word to be spoken through His servants to a dark world that is lost. And through His servants speaking of the hope only He can provide brings forth light in such a dark world.
And we are to remember our dependance of His authority…on His word. Because His word is the only thing that has the authority to give hope.
To Give ETERNITY.
And we would remember that it is not on our authority, our strength to deliver the message He has for us but that we rely solely on His powerful Word that cuts through the hardest of hearts to bring them in His warm embrace.
This week we are going to look to 1-10. But before we do lets go to Jesus who is not dead but alive right now preparing a place for us. Lets go to Him and ask Him to reveal to us this morning the message He wants us to have and not what I want you to obtain from this message.
Let’s Pray!

1-10

The Scroll and the Lamb

5 Then I saw in the right hand of him who was seated on the throne a scroll written within and on the back, sealed with seven seals. 2 And I saw a mighty angel proclaiming with a loud voice, “Who is worthy to open the scroll and break its seals?” 3 And no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll or to look into it, 4 and I began to weep loudly because no one was found worthy to open the scroll or to look into it. 5 And one of the elders said to me, “Weep no more; behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered, so that he can open the scroll and its seven seals.”
“Worthy are you to take the scroll and to open its seals, for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation,
6 And between the throne and the four living creatures and among the elders I saw a Lamb standing, as though it had been slain, with seven horns and with seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth. 7 And he went and took the scroll from the right hand of him who was seated on the throne. 8 And when he had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each holding a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. 9 And they sang a new song, saying,
10 and you have made them a kingdom and priests to our God, and they shall reign on the earth.”
“Worthy are you to take the scroll and to open its seals, for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation, 10 and you have made them a kingdom and priests to our God, and they shall reign on the earth.”

The Measure of a Character

How do we measure character today of someone?
I think in todays society we measure people with having good character by how they interact with us at work or how they present themselves in social media.
There is a couple that we went to church with a while ago who posts the most perfect shots of their family playing around the house, laughing together, posting how perfect their relationship is on FB. Wonderful people who are friends of ours.
And I begin hearing people talk about this couple as the standard of how they need to work on their relationships so they too could have that type of relationship or family life.
And after a while these same people are discouraged and unhappy because they don’t have what it takes to have that type of marriage or family life or spiritual walk with God.
But
But there is something false about judging people based on what they put forth on social media. They are putting there best foot forward and painting the narrative that they want people to see.
What these people don’t understand or they dont see is the behind the scene work that it takes to have a good marriage or good family life.
You don’t see them posting on FB or other platforms of them ugly crying on the kitchen floor, or of their child peeing on the floor because they didn’t want to stop playing a VR game.
. Especially after I slapped handcuffs on them to take them downtown for the night. The worst things are said to me or the fight starts as they are trying to get away.
As a Police Officer I have walked into many peoples homes where they are displaying their true colors.
Especially after I slapped handcuffs on them to take them downtown for the night. The worst things are said to me or the fight starts as they are trying to get away.
My point here is that we don’t know the true character of someone unless you are living with them. Or that you know them on a deep personal level. Only then do you get an accurate picture of their character.
Do they love God or do they love being worshipped as a lower case g.o.d.
If you want to know the character of someone it would be best to ask their children, their spouse what they really think of that person.
I was once asked what I thought of a particular person and I responded to them,
“I don’t know because I never lived with them”
It is important for us to see what opinion is formed of Jesus when He is at home, where they know Him best.
They have discovered that He has no faults and that He is Worthy of all praise.
The angels who have been with Him since they have been created for thousands of years have found Him to be lovely....beautiful......without blemish.....and lift Him up in praise with an unanimous verdict
“Worthy are You Lord....Worthy are You Lord....Worthy are You Lord”
So I want to look at several things today that might make you look upon Him with such affection and love that it makes you sing....
“Worthy are You Lord....Worthy are You Lord....Worthy are You Lord”
First

We see that Jesus is adored as the Only Worthy one of the High Office of Mediator.

When the Angel asked who is worthy to take the scrolls and open its seals we saw that no one on heaven or on earth stepped forward. There was a deafening silence and no claim for worthiness came from
the four living creatures or from the elders.
But when Christ our Lord came forward that there song of praise and His worthiness admitted that He alone could unfold the purposes of God.
And that tells me something.....that Jesus was the fulfiller of that mysterious scroll so closely sealed.
You see Christ is the key purpose of God.
We know that God will accomplish everything that is in His will and we do know that everything will begin and end with Jesus. For He is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the End.
Jesus said,

6  “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
So Jesus is the only one through His death and resurrection…through His never-ending love....can go to go to the Father on our behalf and open the scrolls.
Jesus is our mediator the one that stands between us and God. To make a way for His chosen people.
And that is why He in heaven is being sung to with such depth of love and worship!
The Bible says the wages of sin is death. It had to be done.
And we sing ,
“Worthy are You Lord....Worthy are You Lord....Worthy are You Lord”
We Don’t praise Him because He lived a perfect life. Even though no one in History could have ever accomplished that.
But we praise Him because we did not have to pay the price that we owed. We owed our flesh. Piece by Piece we owed our flesh.
But we praise Him because we did not have to pay the price that we owed. We owed our flesh. Piece by Piece we owed our flesh.
But instead He took that beating. He took the pain, He gave up everything to satisfy the Fathers righteous wrath.
But worst of all. The thing that hurt the most was that for the first time in His existence He was separated from the trinity. His communion from God. The source of His strength. He was alone with all of our sins.
And how ugly the sight is that sin that He took for us. That He swallowed our sin so that we did not have to.
I will sing for eternity
“Worthy are You Lord....Worthy are You Lord....Worthy are You Lord”

Redeemer

I pray that He has redeemed You!!!!! We cannot allow Satan to tempt us with incorrect theology on on how He is the redeemer of all.................no matter what they believe.
If we allow the notion of our hearts to concur with that If all people are good that they will find themselves to be co heirs.
I hear people tell me that as long as they live a good life that they will be ok. That they will be able to enjoy heaven with God.
If we allow ourselves to buy that we will be resting in a redemption that will never save.
The Bible says that

English Standard Version

For God So Loved the World

16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”
You see there is a condition to our redemption and that is to believe in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.
whoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.
So if you don’t believe in Jesus then you are still a slave to Sin and Satan.
But if you have put your faith in Him then when your are standing before His throne in Heaven your song will be
“Worthy are you to take the scroll and to open its seals, for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation”
“Worthy are you to take the scroll and to open its seals, for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation,
I praise God for this!!!
For we have learned that the message of the Gospel is not for just one people. His redemption is for the Jews and the Gentiles.
We know that not all will profess His worthiness but those who do accept Christ will be from all races, all ranks, all nations, all ages, all educational backgrounds, poor and rich.
And when we are all in Heaven together we will be finally united in one choirs singing
“Worthy is the Lamb that was slain”

They In Heaven Adore the Saviour as Divine.

We have seen up to this point that Jesus is adored in Heaven and seen as the rightful mediator and the only One that can be our Redeemer. The only one to bridge the gap between sin and death.
But I will close with one more thing that He is seen as.
Jesus Christ our saviour is seen as Divine.
Only God Himself could take the scroll and break its seven seals.
At the end of the chapter we see that
“And the four living creatures said, “Amen!” and the elders fell down and worshipped”
We did not see a protest in them falling down to worship. If He was not divine they would have not fallen to their face to worship.
This is important for all of us to know. If you do not worship Jesus as God then you will not be going to heaven.
They are all doing it there now. And if you think that He was just a mere man or anything less then God Himself then you will need to start from the very beginning of Christianity.
I could not trust my soul to anything but God. I could not rest at night if I knew that my future was resting in the hands of a mere man. I could not imagine praising a mere man for my salvation.
I weep to know that my brother and so many others rely so heavily that there is no God. And that they will become dust and exist no more.
For if that were the case you and I would not have hope. We would not have hope in our eternal future. We would be waiting on death row trying to file any appeal we could to avoid the penalty of sin.
But we do have hope in Jesus and what He did on the cross for us. Do you have that same hope? Are you in agreement with the angels in heaven?
Do you sing Him praises.
“Worthy are You Lord....Worthy are You Lord....Worthy are You Lord”
Because it is clear that the saints in Heaven worship Christ as their everything.
Is Jesus your everything?
Is Jesus first, last and the middle with you, top and bottom. Because if He is not you will not want to praise Him for spilling all of His blood to redeem you from certain eternal death.
To me Jesus is worthy of everything.
Jesus is worthy of my life,
worthy of my love,
worthy of everything that I can say about Him.
Worthy of all the music and beauty on earth
worthy of all the beautiful voices that have ever sung
He is worthy of our best thoughts and deeds
and above all He is worthy to be our God.
And we will never be able to express His worthiness. It will never be enough.
But we see today that all the saints in Heaven even though they cannot give Jesus the praise He is due.......Sings
“He is Worthy”
Do you believe that there is hope in His worthiness?
If you do not then you will not be admitted into His presence nor will you be accepted into the choir to sing the most beautiful song Heaven has ever heard.
Blessed are we who believe for He has made us co heirs with Him and that we will have an eternity of Joy being in the presence of the only one in Heaven and on Earth who Is
WORTHY
