Now that Paul has directed Timothy in this, what is he supposed to do.

1. Be a teacher who is bold

Paul was writing this letter to Timothy

We aren’t all called to be teachers and pastors

We ARE all called to share the gospel

The term teacher tonight will refer to anyone who shares the gospel. We are teaching those who are from God about Him.

a. Be bold amongst those who despise you

Paul is encouraging Timothy to be bold because there are people who despise him.

Why do they despise him? Because of his youth.

Paul wouldn’t be writing this to Timothy if this were not an issue

Paul knew of this issue when he was in Corinth (1 Cor. 16:10-11)

What is causing you to not share the gospel in boldness

Conduct (Don’t let your personal thoughts about yourself dictate your actions. Allow what God says about you do so)

Love yourself because of Jesus. You have worth because of what Jesus has done for you ( )

Have faith in yourself. You can share the gospel, not because of your own ability but because of the Holy Spirit working within you. . Jesus will be with us in the form of the Holy Spirit.

Paul is instructing Timothy how to continue to operate the church by doing these three things.

v. 14 don’t neglect your spiritual gifts.

The gifts that the Holy Spirit has given you, use them!

Don’ t be envious of the gifts that you do not have.

Be a teacher worth imitating

v. 15 It was important for church leaders to be worthy of imitation.

People are watching you.

Dawson is about to be a big brother and what are big brothers supposed to do? Set an example.

We are to be examples to the world.

v. 16 When we wear the name Christian people will watch our moves.

It is important that we are worth imitating.

One of the scariest things about preaching and teaching is that I don’t want to get it wrong and lead you guys astray.

Persevere! Keep going! Dedicate yourself to God’s word!

So that you may be saved and those who hear you sharing the gospel will be led astray.

Be a teacher who unifies

Paul was writing this because it would not be natural for Timothy

5:1-2 Paul knew that Timothy’s natural reactions would be to do the opposite of these things.

Are you someone who unifies or divides?

It’s ok to be brothers without being twins
