4.
Marriage is an institution of God. All of our thinking on the subject matter comes from the Holy Scriptures. God himself originated marriage when he said, “A man shall leave his mother and his father and shall cling to his wife and the two shall become one flesh.”
Our marriage day isn’t the beginning of a fairy tale, but the first day in a beautiful but sometimes challenging journey. We are all broken individuals, but together we can be objects of grace in and through each other.
As you realize that God took two broken and hurting people and joined them together to make One work of Art.
An Ideal marriage foundation is not found entirely in a couples romanticism but in their commitment to live a life according to Gods will.
(Might not use)
Have you ever seen something on a showroom floor that you just couldn’t live without?
You breakdown and are the purchase just to get a heavy box of parts and a stamp that says some assembly required.
Why can’t it be simple, why doesn’t the maker just assemble it the way you want it and then send it in a bigger box.
Because life doesn’t work that way and as humans we don’t cherish convenience but given once and we will demand it.
So with marriage there is assembly required.
Care, faithfulness, patience and grace are the parts that must be used in order for it to work properly.
The tools are constant, Christ, personal devotion and a desire to honor God in all things.
See marriage is about puting the proper pieces together, first the union then the rest.
Matt chose I can do all Things through Christ who strengthens me.
Mandy chose SoS 3:4 “I have found him whom my soul loves.
Mandi:
As a wife you are called to be a helpmate.
As a wife boost his confidence.
men are sometimes only as good as we are made to think we are.
So make him amazing.
Contrary to popular belief, Biblically a wife is not called to be subservient in a marriage. Instead through mutual submission you are to both model unity and glorify God.
A Husband and Wife help each other stay on beat.
The description of a wife in scripture is often centered around the word “Submit”
But that is based on mutual submission, the wife submits but the verse before that the husband sacrifices his life for his bride, that is mutual submission. Which make it clear that husbands are not permitted to treat wives as subservient.
Think on the example of Christ and the church. He’s is the groom and we are the bride.
We have faith and trust where he leads us even if we don’t totally understand.
We don’t lose our individuality or independence, we still have free will, we submit and enter into a mutually loving relationship.
Matt is the head of the family, but a head is worthless without a neck to hold it up and help it to turn.
Matt:
When all is said and done, and we stand before God You are the one that the spiritual leadership of you family rest on
Its your responsibility as the head to lead in all things.
You daughter will learn how to be treated by how yo treat you wife
and you boys will learn how to treat their future spouses.
In dancing there is always a lead and a follow.
Whoever takes the lead has the responsibility of guiding the dance.
A good lead plans ahead, directs and guides.
A good lead provides support for the follow.
but if done correctly the lead isn’t really noticed, The follow is what people see but only because the lead planned ahead, made adjustments and produced a set up for his follow to shine.
Advice given to us:
all that matters is the two of you. '
at the end of the day its just you and me
Have the couple turn and face each other and if necessary, have the bride giver her flowers to the maid/matron of honor.
Hold hands
Say to Matt:
Matt will you have Amanda to be your lawfully wedded wife
Will you promise to continue to be the security when things get hard.
Will you promise to let Amanda get lost in your arms and eyes when she needs
Will promise to continue to show your love not in words but in actions
Will you love her, comfort her respect, and keep her in sickness and health, forsaking all other for as long as you both shall live?
Matt shall answer:
I will.
Say to Mandy:
Amanda will you have Matt to be your lawfully wedded husband
Will you continue to be supportive and put together pieces of matts heart he thought he lost.
Will you continue to go into every battle hand in hand knowing you will come out victorious
Will you love him, comfort him respect, and keep him in sickness and health, forsaking all other for as long as you both shall live?
The bride shall answer:
I will.
Pastor Jeremy ask:
What token do you offer to fulfill the vows you have made?
The minister shall take the ring and hold it up for the congregations to see it, and then he shall say:
The ring is made of a metal that dose not tarnish and is most enduring. It is in the form of a circle which is unbroken, having no beginning and no ending.
It symbolizes the relationship that is to exist between the two of you.
As Adam and Eve came from the same flesh, the two of you are to be one and help each other.
One is not to take charge of the other, but as a couple you are to work together as you tackle life’s challenges.
The relationship of husband and wife is most scarred when it is made up of the union of two lives, of two natures and of two hearts that beat as one.
Love is
1 Corin 13:4-8
Turn to the groom and say:
Place the ring on your brides finger and say, “With this ring I seal my promise to be your faithful .”
Turn to the bride and say:
Place the ring on your brides finger and say, “With this ring I thee wed.”
Prayer
Hand fasting
This hand fasting represents the bond you have made to each other and to God and as this cord shall not be broken neither shall your vows.
This rope binds you closer together in unity but can never be used in anger, that would be a perversion of its symbolism.
Red and Gold: Gold=Divinity of God Red= Blood He shed for us
Purple= Groom as a new creature in Christ
White= Bride having been cleansed by salvation in Christ
As ecc 4:12 tells us a three stand cord is not easy to break
so it is with the marriage of Matt Christ Mandi
Song: No where without you
to the congregation:
Those that God has joined together let no man separate. For as much as GROOM and BRIDE have consented together in holy wedlock, and witnessed the same before God and this congregation and have pledged their faithfulness to one another by the joining of hands and the exchanging of rings: I now pronounce them man and wife in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
You may kiss the bride.
It gives me great pleasure to introduce to you for the very first time as a married couple Mr. And Mrs. Cook
4 Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud 5 or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. 6 It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. 7 Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. 8 Prophecy and speaking in unknown languages and special knowledge will become useless. But love will last forever!
Turn to the groom and say:
Place the ring on your brides finger and say, “With this ring I seal my promise to be your faithful husband forevermore .”
Turn to the bride and say:
Place the ring on your brides finger and say, “With this ring I seal my promise to be yor faithful wife forevermore .”
