2 Timothy 1:8–13 ESV
8 Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord, nor of me his prisoner, but share in suffering for the gospel by the power of God, 9 who saved us and called us to a holy calling, not because of our works but because of his own purpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesus before the ages began, 10 and which now has been manifested through the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus, who abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel, 11 for which I was appointed a preacher and apostle and teacher, 12 which is why I suffer as I do. But I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed, and I am convinced that he is able to guard until that day what has been entrusted to me. 13 Follow the pattern of the sound words that you have heard from me, in the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.

TRUST IN THE SUFFICIENCY OF HIS SACRIFICE
CALL ON HIM FOR FORGIVENESS
John 3:7 ESV
7 Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’
7 Do not marvel that I said to you, 'You must be born again.'
Galatians 5:1 ESV
1 For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.
1 For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
OUR SINFUL NATURE COMPLICATES THIS SIMPLE TRUTH:
DELUSION; IT'S ALL ABOUT ME
EARNING HIS FAVOR
LEGALISM IN MANY FORMS: GRACE AND WORKS
CHRIST ALONE, GRACE ALONE
-ACTS - THE JEWS COMPLICATING IT BY CIRCUMCISION AND FOLLOWING THE LAW
-REFORMED AND ARMINIAN; IF YOU ARE NOT LIVING A LIFE THAT IS PLEASING TO GOD, THEY AGREE, YOU ARE NOT A CHRISTIAN
-LEGALIST AND HYPERGRACE;
OTHER FROMS OF LEGALISM;
ANYTHING THAT ADDS TO MY NEED FOR GRACE:
-EXPERIENCE
-EMOTION
-TEACHING
1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by command of God our Savior and of Christ Jesus our hope, 2 To Timothy, my true child in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord. 3 As I urged you when I was going to Macedonia, remain at Ephesus so that you may charge certain persons not to teach any different doctrine, 4 nor to devote themselves to myths and endless genealogies, which promote speculations rather than the stewardship from God that is by faith. 5 The aim of our charge is love that issues from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. 6 Certain persons, by swerving from these, have wandered away into vain discussion, 7 desiring to be teachers of the law, without understanding either what they are saying or the things about which they make confident assertions.
LOVE:
-GOD; HEART, SOUL, MIND AND STRENGTH;
-SPOUSE AND FAMILY; - AS CHRIST LOVED THE CHURCH
-CHURCH; , GAVE HIMSELF UP FOR IT
-A PURE HEART
In biblical thought the heart is the seat of the mind, the emotions, and the will.
-A GOOD CONSCIENCE
Conscience refers to an individual’s inner awareness of the moral quality of personal actions.
-A SINCERE FAITH
“Sincere faith” is a trust in God. Characterized as having simplicity of aim, which is always ready to listen to truth, and a constant desire to do right.
1 Now Elijah the Tishbite, of Tishbe in Gilead, said to Ahab, "As the Lord, the God of Israel, lives, before whom I stand, there shall be neither dew nor rain these years, except by my word." 2 And the word of the Lord came to him: 3 "Depart from here and turn eastward and hide yourself by the brook Cherith, which is east of the Jordan. 4 You shall drink from the brook, and I have commanded the ravens to feed you there." 5 So he went and did according to the word of the Lord. He went and lived by the brook Cherith that is east of the Jordan. 6 And the ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning, and bread and meat in the evening, and he drank from the brook. 7 And after a while the brook dried up, because there was no rain in the land.
