god is good

The Source of all Blessing

The source of our blessing is identified as “God”.
Paul says “Blessed be to God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The word “blessed” translate a word that means “to speak good of”. We get our word “eulogy” from that word. If you have ever heard a eulogy at a funeral, you have heard a time when someone tried to speak good concerning another person.
Paul is saying, “God is good!” How true that is! He is a good God.
Revelation 5:13 NKJV
13 And every creature which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, I heard saying: “Blessing and honor and glory and power Be to Him who sits on the throne, And to the Lamb, forever and ever!”
We like to say that God is good when things are going our way. Let me just remind you that He is still the same Lord when things seem to be against you as He is when you are enjoying the best life can offer.
Why? Because the standard by which we measure God’s blessing is not in situation but in Salvation.
When Paul says, “blessed be God”, he is praising God for the blessings that He gives His children. This just reminds us that our God is worthy of praise all the time!
Blessing God is a wonderful offering:
Most of the things we do in our faith, we do because we have been commanded to do them. We attend worship, we tithe, we witness, we pray, all as acts of obedience.
When we take the time to open our mouths to praise the Lord, we are giving Him and offering of love.
In the Old Testament they had what was known as a “freewill offering”.
This was an offering given to the Lord by someone just because they loved Him. They would bring their sacrifice to the Lord and offer it up freely because they were moved with overwhelming love for the God of their salvation.
That same kind of offering is still in order today! It is an offering that He will accept.
Psalm 119:108 NKJV
108 Accept, I pray, the freewill offerings of my mouth, O Lord, And teach me Your judgments.

The Subject of all Blessing

Paul says that God “hath blessed us”.
The “us” Paul is referring to are the “saints” and “the faithful” he mentioned in verse 1.
Our blessings to Him are the words we say. His blessings to us are the deeds He performs in our lives.
It amazes to think about all the saints of God possess in Him!
He loved us, He chose us in Jesus, and He bestows every good gift upon us. He blesses us in ways far greater than we can imagine.
Think about who we are and all that He has done for us in Jesus Christ! He did it all.
He provided it all for us. And, still He blesses us in Jesus!
He blesses us in ways far greater than we deserve.
He is so good to us, and we are absolutely unworthy! We should praise Him for His wonderful grace, gifts and blessings!

The Scope Of These Blessings

ALL spiritual blessings” –
The word “all” means “total, whole, of every kind”.
We have been given everything God has to offer. When we came to faith in Jesus, God opened the treasure houses of Heaven and authorized us to receive unlimited spiritual resources.
The redeemed have, at their disposal, all the spiritual wealth of Heaven.
God has blessed us over an above anything that we deserve.
God’s blessings in our lives know no boundaries!
He just keeps blessing and blessing and blessing, giving us love, joy, peace, grace, mercy, glory and hope, and countless other blessings besides!
Thank God for His boundless blessings in our lives!

The Sort Of These Blessings

Paul tells us that we have been blessed with “all spiritual blessings”.
God has given to us everything that the Spirit of God can deliver to us.
Everything we could possibly need or want has been dispensed to us through the work of the Spirit of God in our lives. We are rich in spiritual resources and we do not even realize it!
2 Peter 1:3 NKJV
3 as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue,
Philippians 1:19 NKJV
19 For I know that this will turn out for my deliverance through your prayer and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,
Sadly, we don’t always appropriate what we have in Jesus.
In fact, we spend a lot of time asking for things that He has already given to us.
We pray for love, when God says that His love is
Romans 5:5 NKJV
5 Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
We pray for peace, when Jesus has already said:
John 14:27 NKJV
27 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
We pray for joy, when the Bible tells us plainly that we have:
1 Peter 1:8 NKJV
8 whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory,
That’s not all.
We pray for strength to do the things God has called us to do, when He already told us that we can:
Philippians 4:13 NKJV
13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
We worry over our needs when the Lord has already promised to meet them:
Philippians 4:19 NKJV
19 And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
We seek His presence when He has said:
Hebrews 13:5 NKJV
5 Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
The problem is simple: So many Christians dont know their bible, so they dont know what God has promised them.
And when he find it in God’s word, we must believe it byt faith and not by sight or feeling.

The State Of These Blessings

Why has God given such great and wonderful blessings to the likes of you and me?
He does it only because we are “in Christ”. When a person comes to faith in Jesus Christ, that person is brought into a wonderful union with Jesus.
1 Corinthians 6:17 NKJV
17 But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him.
When we met Jesus, we became one with Jesus.
As a result, everything that belongs to Him now belongs to us.
Romans 8:16–17 NKJV
16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.
Think about it! We are “in Christ”.
That means where He is, we are. Eph. 2:6 says,
Ephesians 2:6 NKJV
6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,
What He does, we do,
1 John 2:6 NKJV
6 He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.
What He possesses, we possess.
Romans 8:17 NKJV
17 and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.
His privileges are our privileges,
Ephesians 2:18 NKJV
18 For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father.
Everything Jesus has the redeemed saints of God have.
We have it not because we deserve it, but we have been given these things because of His work in our hearts and lives. We have been brought into such a close fellowship with Jesus that He shares every thing He has with us.
We don’t deserve it. We didn’t earn it. Everything was given to as a free gift of His grace!

Conc:

That is a lot of information, but it all just reminds us how truly blessed we are in Jesus.
If you are in Christ today, you possess all spiritual blessings in Him. If that is your condition today, you should come before Him and thank Him for what He has given you in Jesus.
When you come before Him, you should also ask Him to help you walk in the Spirit so that you can lavishly spend everything He has given you in Jesus. Then, you should get up and go out into the world living out His will and walking in His ways.
If you are not in Christ today, and He is calling you to come to Him, you should obey that call and come to Jesus Christ for salvation. I can’t promise you that you will not have trouble, but I can promise you that you will enjoy spiritual riches beyond all description.
