I WILL GLORIFY THE KING Intro. a. We ended our last lesson with the “6th Sense” thought Heb 6:19-20 Living “within the veil” b. Eph 5:15-20 Drunk -vs- Spirit c. “Glorify”- Acknowledge God’s true character; Recognize real substance Glorify God in our: a. Life It’s all REFLECTIVE, through the SPIRIT. Our glorification is from “Christ in us.” Glorifying God comes from being saturated with the Word and enabled by the Spirit (Fruits of Spirit, Gal 5) Jn 5:44. “How can you believe… you seek glory from one another…” Rom 8:29-30 We are “glorified by God” Rom 2:6-8 ALL about eternity, NOT earth 2 Thess 1:11-12 “To this end we always pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling and may fulfill every resolve for good and every work of faith by his power, so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.” b. Suffering & Trials 1. “Consider it PURE JOY!”  James 1:2-3 We have twisted the Truth of Jesus so badly that we have trouble seeing what the Bible MEANS in some of its sweetest and in some of its most challenging passages.   We spend so much time praying, “God, get me OUT of this! How foolish are those prayers. Paul said in Romans 5:3 that “we GLORY in our suffering”.  He said he was “GRANTED TO SUFFER” (Phil 1:29). Matt 5:11-12 “Blessed are you when men revile you” We don’t get to suffer for Christ like they did in the first century.  It is easy to understand how Christians glorified God in those situations. In our world today, it's not like that.  BUT, we do have these precious moments, grand opportunities, to show the world that we believe, we will not deny, we will proudly claim His name and gladly suffer through illness, loss and various trials, and do so with FAITH, GRACE, LOVE, and spiritual strength that is not anxious, is not weak and is not afraid.   2. 2 Cor 4:16-18     I may be called to suffer in my health issue.  I don’t know.  God is the one who decides.  BUT, if He does call me to glorify His Name in this moment, isn’t it a grand, superb, happy, joyous, incredible opportunity?   Praise His Name! I have determined that this “momentary, light affliction” is truly going to “prepare me for an eternal weight of GLORY FAR BEYOND ALL COMPARISON”.  I will offer no less than my whole life to show the world how He comforts, and how He has saved me.  Isn’t our God fantastic?   c. Death Whole concept of death in modern CHRISTIAN world is twisted. Death is VICTORY 3rd century debate about MARTYRDOM, The conclusion: they decided to live, avoid death, and serve as long as they could in the kingdom.  BUT, when the time came, if they were called to die, they would do it with PURE JOY PETER 2 Pet 1:14. “Lord has made it clear my departure is near” John 21:19 Jesus foretells how he would GLORIFY god in death. Peter and his Wife’s death……. PAUL 2 Tim 4:6-8. “I am already poured out as a drink offering, time of my departure” Phil 1:21-24. “For to me to live is Christ…..Having the desire to depart and be with the Lord, which is VERY MUCH BETTER” Message of his death is clear, his perspective near death was obvious: 2 thoughts on his mind: Victory in Christ: As they lead him down Ostian Rd to execution, thoughts not of dying, death, defeat, but of VICTORY and LIFE! Must have thought: 1 Pet 4:16 “If any suffers as a…” Acts 21:13. “Ready not only to be bound” 2 Tim 2:11, If we have died with Him, we shall live with Him” Last request?… prayer…..executioner raises his sword….. “I reckon”……Flash……. GLORY!!!
