vs. 12

Paul’s outlook on his circumstances is to not dwell on the past or present but to look forward to how the gospel can be advanced
Philippian church was fearful that Paul’s imprisonment would hurt the Way

vs. 13

Paul was sure to point to Christ in his afflictions
Instead of being angry at God or woe-is-me, Paul used this opportunity to point others towards Christ
Christ suffered & so will we (, )
As we pursue Christ, the enemy pursues to afflict us
What will our response be? ()
It’s not about what we’ve done, our response NOW is what is important
No one is above this (ministers/pastors, congregation)
Point to the cross - We know who Jesus is & our responsibility is to proclaim Christ and point others to Him
Our endurance should point to Christ

Our response matters
Our response becomes part of our testimony which can be used as encouragement & confidence for others

Even in our afflictions, there will be those who are envious of how God uses us

In these moments our response is still so crucial
Paul gives us the best example of how to respond in verse 18

Paul was not concerned for himself, his platform, his popularity, or his well-being.
Paul rejoiced in one thing -> Christ
Our duty is to proclaim Christ

are you pioneering through tough terrain for others?
