Good afternoon, My Name is Junior,
A bit about myself: I am the husband of one wife “Porsia”, I am originally from Old Montrose Kingstown but grew up mostly in Redemption sharps, I am a Christian, I love playing music, love helping people understand life, I serve as the Asst. Pastor of Discipleship at HBC in A/vale. I ‘m here to learn about you and how I can serve you.

One of my Childhood dreams were to become a doctor. The earliest age I remember was about age 8-10. By the time I was 14, I was smoking weed, and later that year I was on the street and by the next week I was in the hills planting Marijuana. So how did I come from my desire of being a Doctor to a budding law breaker?

One of the main reasons I believe was that although I had an Idea or a plan, those plans were not examined, and no smaller plans were put in place. I had an Idea but not a plan. That’s exactly what you will have to decide, if you really want to be successful you will need to have a well thought out plan that will propel you in your future of success.
Now that’s another thing, what is success? How is success measured?
I’d like to share with you, five essential skills for a successful life:

1. Learning how to learn
1. Learning how to learn
Once you realize that every type of skill can be learned if you follow a particular set of steps, the world starts to look a lot like a video game.
You can level up and acquire new abilities since you know what type of effort, time and focus it will take to learn a new skill.
This is one of the most underrated competences one can have, yet one that is likely to have the largest benefit on the long run. When you know how to learn, the only thing left to do is to allocate yourself the time and resources to upgrade your software with whatever skills would make your life better.
Learning is a combination of 2 processes:
Focused Work:Sitting down and grinding out the details to the point where you’ve understood. E.g. Learning to play the guitar.
Relaxed Work: When you enjoy something and inevitably learn it. E.g. Learning a song you love, E.g. you understand the entire MCU.
Learning something new would move between these 2 processes.
One of the ways you’d learn a lot is the intentionality in reading good books.
Imagine you can absorb the knowledge someone gathered in a lifetime, in a single week just by reading a book. Reading evolves your main asset which is yourself.

Your value to anyone is dependent on how much value you can actually bring to the table of any relationship or organisation. What you’ve learned will be the stepping stone between you and success.

Discipline is training that corrects, molds, or perfects the mental faculties or moral character, and an orderly or prescribed conduct or pattern of behavior

Self-Discipline is one of the hardest things to master and implement, because we live in a world filled with distractions.
Here’s the thing,
“If you master self-discipline, any feasible dream becomes an objective that is separated from you only by time.”
How do you develop Discipline?
1. Define what you want. a goal worth fighting for is one of the most motivating factor inn being disciplined. It needs to be the answer to your life. If this goal happened, your life would dramatically change for the better.
2. Evaluate why you want it.
3. Deconstruct the goal. it needs to be broken down into small steps/milestones.
4. Make a daily plan to accomplish the goal. Prioritise the most important tasks over everything else. Eliminate distractions.
5. Track your progress. Have a daily assessment that checks whether or not you’ve accomplished your goals.

6. Keep yourself accountable. Have mentors and people in your life who will not be afraid to tell you the truth. Who is more concerned with your progress than your feelings.
Many people believe that success is a result of a few big steps. Nothing is further from the truth. It’s the small things that no one sees that create the results that everyone wants. Discipline closes the gap between what you want and what you achieve. It’s the bridge between who you are and who you want to become.
Yes, being disciplined is hard, but the best leaders will always try to choose the pain of discipline over the pain of regret. Based on who you want to be, ask yourself, “What discipline do I need to start?”

What’s the most valuable tool anyone has?
We all have the same amount of hours in a day.
Time is the most valuable commodity you have. It’s more important than money.
You’d want to be able to manage your time better.
Here are some helpful tips for doing that;
1. Set goals and rewards - Knowing your goals can help you to use your time better.
2. Prioritise your tasks .
The 4 Quadrants Explained
Quadrant 1 – urgent and important
The activities in Quadrant 1 would comprise of things that could not have been forseen and things that could have, if they were planned for.
Quadrant 1 would only contain those activities and responsibilities that require your immediate attention. The space is reserved for emergencies and extremely important deadlines.
The problem is if you spend most of your time managing crises and problems, it’ll keep getting bigger and bigger until it consumes you. This leads to stress, burnout, and constantly putting out fires.
Quadrant 2 – not urgent but important
Quadrant 2 comprises of things that are not urgent right now but important. Things like strategic planning, relationship building, exercise, preparation, education and other personal development activities – all things we know we need to do but somehow seldom get around to actually doing, because they don’t feel urgent.
Quadrant 2 activities are the ones that will really make the difference to your life and help you accomplish a lot more of what you want. This is where highly effective people focus the most.
Quadrant 3 – urgent but not important
The third quadrant would contain items that appear to have a high urgency, but are not at all important. This would be stuff like interruptions, some meetings and phone calls.
Ideally you want to eliminate all of Quadrant 3 by either delegating it out to others or by politely saying No.
If you find that you’re constantly getting interrupted by others then it might be an idea to set up a designated time to deal with such things all in one go to save yourself time.
Quadrant 4 – not urgent and not important
Quadrant 4 activities are basically time wasting activities that are not urgent and offer no value. Quadrant 4 is all about surfing the internet without purpose, wasting time browsing social media, watching endless hours of TV.
Whilst everyone needs a bit of down time and I understand escapism it’s better to have that planned for in your to do list.

One of the things i’ve come to learn is that “You can only improve what you can measure”.
Tracking your progress is the most important because it helps to see where you are, where you are going, and how to get there.

A problem is an obstacle in the way of progress
Anyone can point out a problem. It takes a person with insight and significant skills to solve them.

Change your mindset about your role. Whatever you do you’re a problem solver.
2. We cannot hide from problems, they always find us.
“Problems are opportunities in disguise”
e.g. the richest man in the world
“the value you bring is a reflection of the problem you solve”
3. Get to the root of the problem by asking the right questions.

SELLING has to deal with the needs of the SELLER while
MARKETING if focused on the NEEDS of the BUYER!
You sell something, because the company needs to make a profit, you market something as a solution to a problem
These two are tracked differently as well. You track sales by profits and marketing by the customer’s satisfaction.

they never try in the first place. Nothing happens if there’s no trial.
they underestimate what it takes. the details of success are
they’re lazy. you don’t put in adequate work. e.g. a new language, high grades, start a business. understand what skills need to be put in.
They don’t have a competitive advantage. have an edge, that most others don’t have. play on your strengths.
They don’t learn to adapt. everything changes, we must learn new. yahoo could have bought google for 1 million dollars.
They don’t have self discipline.
They lack planning.
They fear failure.
They Want too much too quickly.
They don’t know when they’re wrong.
They make excuses.
They are being resistant to advice.
they don’t measure progress.
They are all talk and no show.
They give up.
